I have to believe that you could find a place online for this gear. My other thought is looking for a replacement out of an old printer, typwriter or something along those lines. The shredder is not that complicated and if you get a little inventive you probable have something broken at home that would work for that.

This Shredder is an Aurora AS650C Rebranded for Walmart as Durabrand. Before I recycle the metal from my DS-1 Fellowes shredder (small driven gear stripped) does anyone need any other parts? Two larger gears are good. Norm

Hello,

I'm desperately looking for the small nylon gear (see attached photo) of the DS-1.
As I live in Brussels, Belgium I'm also curious to know where you have found the gear outside US and at which price.

Thanks,
Dirk.

Paper jam

Does it sound like the motor is spinning? or does it sound like the motor is bound up? I ask because if it sounds like the motor is spinning, then chances are good you stripped a plastic gear somewhere in the drive system that feeds the steel shredder. I just pulled apart one of these and saw that the motor has a steel gear on it. that steel motor gear meets with a plastic gear, and then the plastic gear meets with steel gears attached to, and which spin the shredder. So if you ever bind the shredder with too much paper, the steel motor gear will grind the teeth right off the plastic gear and it won't spin anymore. If your motor sounds like it's bound, then the good news is that the gears aren't stripped. You'll have to take the shredder apart so you can remove the paper causing the problem. Of course unplug it first before opening it up. They are not overly complex but just remember where the screws goes so you put them back in the right holes.

Purchase gears

This is an inexpensive, light duty shredder. Products such as this are considered 'throw-away products' ; when they break, you throw it away and buy a new one. Larger, more expensive commercial shredders are repairable.

You probably have the same problem we do.....the unit vibrated some of the mounting screws loose, causing the gears to disengage slightly and then strip one of them (plastic).....hence, no movement of the shredder, even though the motor is fine.  I myself am looking to Royal for a replacement gear.  I don't want to have to buy another one and it beats throwing the whole thing out....what a waste!  Maybe they should start using some glue on the mounting bolts!
