Hi there, I installed a Lockwood 001 deadlock yesterday but I can't get it to work. I tried the key with the door open and it retracts the bolt and deadbolt just fine, but when the door is locked

SOURCE: brought new keyless dead bolt. Put it in a door

there is a strap inside just below the battery compartment and you need to strap the opposite two that are strapped now. this will allow the bolt to operate correctly.

SOURCE: When locking or unlocking using the power it

This sounds like an unusual problem, but your lock may be covered under warranty. Warranty covers mechanical and finish defects, but not the internal electronics. I recommend calling them-- call 1-800-327-LOCK (5625) in the U.S. and Canada.

Here is a link to Kwikset's website for your reference, and you can follow a link to their written warranty, etc.:

Good luck!

How do I change the code on a lockwood digital door lock 530

First determine the code you want to use; find the tweezers and spare red and blue tumblers if you are going to change the length of your code. The factory-set code is 5 digits. You can only use each key once and the C key cannot be included in your 4-6 digit long code. Next you need to disassemble the lock with the lock kept horizontal during the recoding process. If the lock has been installed, you need to uninstall it from the door. Remove the two mounting screws from the interior face plate. Then separate the exterior section from the spindle connecting it to the interior face plate. If the lock has not been installed or the previous step is done, remove the adapter plate from the back of the digital lock (exterior plate) if it is fitted on the unit. Next remove the four red screws that hold the back plate onto the lock and remove the backplate. Press and hold the C button at the lower left (as viewed from the back where the tumblers are) below the most of the other keys on the faceplate. With the tweezers, remove tumblers and put a red tumbler in the spots corresponding to your new code. Put a blue tumbler in the all of the other spots. Make sure that the color side is up and that the square cutout is facing the side of the lock. (Thus on the right side keys, the square cut faces right and on the left keys, it faces to the left.) When all of the tumblers are in place, release the C button. Test your code and check that it works after replacing the backplate and adapter plate but before putting the lock on the door. Save the tweezers and additional tumblers for future code changes.

The directions for resetting the code on any Lockwood Digital Lock are provided in the service manual here: http://www.lockweb.com.au/Local/AU/Technical%20Downloads/Lockwood/Mechanical%20Digital%20Locks/530%20Digital%20DX/Lockwood%20DX%20Digital%20Service%20Manual.pdf . Other details for the lock installation are available here: http://www.lockweb.com.au/en/site/lockweb/Lockwood-Products/?productId=948353 .

I hope this helps.

Interior door lock won't lock with twist

If the bolt extends fully when the door is open, the problem is with the strike hole in the door frame. (If the bolt doesn't extend when the door is open, it's either a bad installation or a bad lock. Read the instructions again and reinstall it or get a new lock.)

If it used to work, open the door and tighten all the hinge screws before you do anything else. They could be loose even if they are covered with paint. This solves about half the problems with doors and locks.

The easiest way to figure out where the strike hole should be is to use the "lipstick trick." Extend the bolt with the door open, and scrap a tiny ridge of lipstick on the top, bottom, and both sides of the bolt so the lipstick will hit the doorframe before the metal of the bolt does. Retract the bolt, close the door, and try to extend the bolt a few times so the lipstick leaves a mark on the edge of the hole or somewhere inside the hole. Retract the bolt all the way before opening the door so you don't smear any marks on the frame. Now you can see where the problem is and what needs to be moved, or filed, or cut deeper.

Every woman who wears makeup has lipstick she bought and cannot return to the store. She will be glad to give you a tube and get some use from that awful color.

Try having a new key cut using the key code, at a dealer, not tracing the old key.

How do I lock the door with the key pad? I can unlock it fine but I can't get the door to lock. Don't have the manual. what buttons to I press?

Push the Lock button on outside touch pad to extend latch bolt 1" which locks the door when you leave.
Enter your desired personal code to retract the latch bolt completely which unlocks the door when you return home.
The T-turn on the inside of the door is used to extend (lock) or retract (unlock) the latch bolt when you are inside.
Using the key from the outside will also extend (lock) or retract (unlock) the latch bolt.
This Touchpad Electronic Deadbolt should be accompanied by a Kwikset Knobset, Leverset, or Handleset.

I cut & pasted the above from the installation instruction sheet.
Here is the link to the entire installation instructions sheet (manual):

http://s7d5.scene7.com/is/content/BDHHI/40486-02

It is a .PDF file, so if you aren't able to view it, download and install Adobe Reader from this site first:

http://get.adobe.com/reader/

If you are not able to lock the door using the outside touch pad's lock button, you may need to reprogram the door's "handedness", which gives the lockset the ability to be used on doors that have their hinges on either the right or left side of the door (right-hand or left-hand door).
The instructions for that are found on Step 4.9. This is also an excellent time to change the batteries, which is recommended yearly.

Good luck!

Try turning the inside cylinder with the key. When the "holes" line up with the screws, insert the appropriate screwdriver and tighten them.

My front door has a Roto R627 lock. I can't get

If the deadlock moves a little bit, The deadbolt may not be lining up with the hole. Put some lipstick on the deadbolt tongue and try to turn it. Then check where it is hitting the frame. You might have to just tighten up the hinges to shift the door position.

Baldwin 6321 mortise:when locked can open from either side

It sounds as if the lock is installed backwards or more specifically in inside mechanism. The inside lever/handle when turned should retract the deadbolt (safety feature). If yours does not currently switch around.
