Wiring up a compressor + start kit

Wiring up a compressor
If there is an identifying mark on one side of the capacitor such as a Dash, Red paint or arrow pointing one direction that will be the run side of the capacitor, if no marks you can use either side for start or run.
If you have three terminals on the capacitor you have a dual capacitor, (C = RUN compressor and fan) (HERM = compressor start) and (FAN is fan start wire).
The Start wire goes to one side of the run capacitor it will be the only wire on that side of the capacitor.
The Run wire goes to the terminal side (T2) of the contactor, it will have another
wire from that terminal to the run capacitor which is the opposite side of the start wire.
The Common wire will go to the other side of the contactor (T1).
Start Kit
Start from the capacitor to terminal #1 on start relay There should be another wire from
here to start on the compressor.
Common from contactor (T1) to terminal #5 on start relay. There should be a wire from this terminal to the Common terminal on the compressor.(there will not be a capacitor in this circuit)
Run from the other side of the contactor (T2) to the start capacitor and from the other
Side of the start capacitor to terminal #2 on the start relay. There should also be a wire from this
Terminal to Run on the compressor.

My Gladiator freezerator GAFZ21XXRK has a Embraco EGZ90HLP will not cool down but fans run and compressor is warm humms and vibrates

You can test the electrical winding but not the mechanical possibility that compressor is worn out. There is a 3 n 1 that you can use that uses a run capacitor here=>SUPCO RC0810 Refrigerator Compressor Hard Start Kit
How to test windings
Unplug the refrigerator and remove the back panel that covers the compressor. There should be 3 wires going inside the cover of the compressor. Mark all 3 and mark their location so if compressor is OK you can put them back in same order. The plastic cover may snap on and you may need to squeeze the sides to unlock the cover and sometimes there is a metal clip holding the cover in place. Remove the cover. May look hard but it's simple. There will be three connections under the cover and 2 will go through the start relay. Unplug them leaving the three prongs exposed. They may be marked R =Run, S=Start and C=Common. Set your meter on continuity and then begin by testing 2 at a time until you have checked S to R and R to C an C to S and S to R again. You should get a reading all the way around. If no reading between any of the pairs as you go around you should get no reading between any two the compressor has an open winding and is defective. Then if it passes that test then touch one probe to R and the other to the copper pipes or clean metal on outside of compressor, then S to metal outside and C to metal outside. If you get a reading this way even just a little. The compressor is a burnout. Then let me know what you find. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Don't know how to connect capacitor

Locate the Run terminal on the compressor ( marked R ) that wire goes to one side of the run capacitor usually has a mark ... the other wire will go to the common bar on the selector switch. On the other side of the capacitor goes the Start Terminal of the compressor No other wire goes with that just one wire from ( S ) on compressor to capacitor. Hope this keeps you cool!

Amana abb2224dew repairman installed part # 8201786. This was to replace the compressor start up. Worked for a week, then same buzz click sequence occurs. Looked up part number. Part is for mostly...

The replacement compressor kit is #12002633 from Amana (Now Whirlpool).
In this kit are the following New model compressor, relay/capacitor, jumper and instructions.
Kenmore does not make appliances rather all of the other manufacturers produce for them.
That part number is for Whirlpool Start Relay/Capacitor and as long as the compressor is the right horsepower for the relay it makes no difference who made it. (Techumseh or Embraco)

The three prong relay connector on the compressor on my Haier compact does not have the common, start and run marked. how do I figure out which is common and run?

Tecumseh terminal pins always thought of
in the order: Common, Start, Run. To identify the
terminal pins, we read the order exactly as we would
read a book: That is, we start at the top left hand
corner and read across the first “line” from left to
right. We then drop down to the second line starting
at the left and read across. Some compressor models
have terminal pin identification embossed on the
protective terminal cover.
The common will go to the external overload protector. The run will be connected to the power side of the relay.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
As you are looking at the terminals
The nine 'o clock terminal is the common
The 2 'o clock terminal is the run,
The four 'o clock terminal is the start

I purchased an Amana refrigerator that has been making a humming noise and will not keep food cold or frozen. what' wrong? The model # is ABB1924DEB, and I purchsed it in 2005. is it included in their...

The recall was for units that had embraco compressors. the relay would burn up and not start the comperssor. (hum and click) some amanas had tecumseh compressors. They would just scize up and not run (hum and click)No recall. remove the back cover and see what name is on your compressor. If its hot and trying to start, Embraco needs new relay, Tecumseh needs to be replaced with a embraco compressor.

Compresor will not kick on. all fans running, thermostat control works, and relays seem fine. The fridge is only 5 years old. Whirlpool 21.0 cu. ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator Plus Ice Maker.

Compressor won't run or it is "clicking' on and off: This normally could be a bad start relay and over load for the compressor, dirty condenser coils need cleaning, condenser fan motor is not running or the compressor itself. To check the compressor properly you should test it with an amp meter, each compressor is rated in running amps  ( see model/serial tag or the sticker on the compressor )...if the compressor is drawing too much current, this may be why it is shutting off. Check the model tag for proper amp rating. Some relays will be easy to notice the broken with them, they may be burnt. Example oneexample twoexample three. Some of these relays can be removed and give them a little shake, and if they rattle around inside the relay is likely bad. Compressors can also seize and click on and off or one of the electrical windings inside the compressor could have opened up. You can use a test cord to help check the compressor and this also will help with the amp test. If the compressor checks ok and you want to install areplacement start relay. You will need to find out which winding is which. You will need an ohm meter to determine the windings. First check to see if you have windings in the compressor. Then check to see if they are grounded. If the compressor has windings and they are not grounded, you can find which winding is which. Check for grounded windings by reading from each terminal to a good ground on the cabinet. Read from the top terminal to the lower left terminal. Read from the top terminal to the lower right terminal. Read from the lower left terminal to the lower right terminal. Write down the resistance of each reading as you go. The highest reading you get will be the run and start winding of the compressor in series with each other. The other terminal left will be the common terminal. Read from the common terminal to each of the other terminals. The terminal with the lower resistance will be the run winding. The higher resistance the start winding. Using the original style relay is always preferred, but using a general replacement can "get you by" if needed.
