Boot into safe mode (press F8 while booting for options menu) then go into device manager and re-enable the display adapter or uninstall it and allow Windows to reinstall it when you reboot.

Why won't my compaq presario 1250 load windows?

1 - You may need to roll back system with System Restore. Under Safe Mode (press F8 during boot and choose safe mode).
Win 7 - Start > Search type System Restore
XP - Is Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Restore. Now choose a date prior to problem. You may have to try a few dates.

2 - Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. Startup tab and uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when only you initiate.

Black screen right after dell logo

start tapping f8 after you boot the machine, when given the boot menu, try to load safe mode, and see if it loads. if it does, then you need to do a system restore back to before you got the black screen. more than likely windows loaded an updated driver that disagrees with your system. try that and let me know what happens :)

If you have installed a PCI-E video card in your computer and you have an onboard video it would be better for you to disable the AGP or the onboard video adapter in the BIOS and just leave the PCI-E card enabled. You may have to uninstall the video driver of your onboard video so the computer will not be confused which driver to use for the video card.

I disabled my video card now i cant see the screen???/

Where did you disable it? In windows? Start up in Safe mode and check your video there. I would ininstall it and restart. Windows should see it and set it up normally.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Hi, uninstalling the onboard video will only be reinstalled by Windows next time you boot up. Disabling it in the Device Manager might and mght not do the trick if your mb is set on using the onboard. You might want to try and disable the onboard video in the CMOS/BIOS set-up. In some instances, you are asked in the BIOS what video will be used such as onboard, AGP or PCI or a selection of something like that. Also you can try and not allocating any memory to the onboard video. Hope this be of some help. Pls post again how things turn up. Good luck.
