SOURCE: bryant furnance clicking, won't fire

try checking the pressure sensing switch,it has a tube that should run somewhere close to the inducer fan.sometimes this hose fills with liquids,and makes the units act funny.I don't know if you have a condensing unit or what.the furnace wont try to light if it cant tell the inducer motor is running.any induced draft unit will work this way.you can also do a temp. bypass of the pressure switch to make sure the contacts on it are closing just be sure your inducer fan is running,and you cant leave it like that its just a test.that is a safety feature you really need.

SOURCE: Furnace blows cold air, ignitor won't glow.

ok this is going to sound funny but it seems as though the polarity is reversed going into your furnance. to correct this proiblem you first need to unplug the unit and where the cord goes into the furnance at that connection disconnect the two wires. Once theses are disconnected switch the wires .All you are doing is reversing the way the electricity flows into the circut board. I would wager that is the problem

is fan working? if so check the small tube from fan to pressure switch this sometimes will be lose. if fan is working and tube is connected you can check to make sure switch is good by disconnecting hose from fan housing ,start unit **** on hose & hold end so it keeps a vacuum. if everything works than you need to replace fan motor & housing

SOURCE: Induced Draft Blower Not Blowing- 3 Blinks on LED

Your doing well just right. When the call for heat is on the draft motor gets a call from the board to come on. When this happens if no voltage is present at the motor then you ahve abad baord. Replace it.

My Bryant Gas furnace model number is 373LAV036095 the pilot light won't light. Gives us indication that the pressure value is stuck??? Sends into lockout mode. Where is the pressure value located in the...


This is a down flow unit. There is no pressure valve on this unit. Here is all the parts on this unit.
1. Manual - reset, when used.
2. Blower and blower motor
3. Relief box also known as a exhaust flue.
4. Gas valve control knob or electric switch, ON/OFF
5. Gas Valve
6. Gas burner
7. Ratting plate
8. Blower door safety switch
9. Blocked vent safeguard tube and switch
10. Gas Manifold
11. Manual limit switch (2)
12.Hot surface ignitor
13. Flame sensor
14. Inducer blower motor
15. Control board with relays and transformer.
That is all the parts. The first thing the heater gets a call from the thermostat to the control board marked W. The board sends 24v to the inducer fan relay which makes and causes the inducer fan to come on now there is a small tube that runs from the inducer fan box to a switch when the switch makes it sends power to the board which proves you have cleared the exhaust flue then the flat surface ignitor starts to glow and then gas valve opens and fires. now if this tube is stopped up the heater will not fire and will lock the unit out. Also if the flue is stopped up with trash it will do the same thing. If you are not familiar with gas heating units you should call a service company out and check out the system there is a lot of things that need to be checked out every heating season as to keep you and your family safe.

How to trouble shoot trane 80 gas furnce


The 1st thing I do is go to the thermostat and put the Fan switch from Auto to the On position. If the fan operates this proves you have both high and low voltages and the breaker, fuses, transformer etc is functional, this saves one from going to the breakers and air handler often in an attic or roof or basement.
If the fan does not operate then I check for correct power.
Set the thermostat for heat mode and turn the temperature setting well above the rooms temperature. and observe the furnaces sequence of operation.
What you normally expect is upon the white circuit from the thermostat being energized with 24 volts, the induced draft motor will cycle for 30-60 seconds typically to pre purge the heat exchanger, after this purge the induced draft motor has a pressure switch that senses the induced draft operation thus proving the induced draft motors running and alloqw the ignition to begin, either a spark or a HSI, hot surface ignition type.
If you see no bright white light or hear a sparking noise by the burner area this is normal, this will be followed by a trial period for ignition, meaning the gas valve will be energized for a 30 second trial period, during this time the flame rectification proves a flame exists by a DC signal being sent back to the module by the flame sensor or the ground/burner ground.
This DC signal is very weak and easily interrupted and this is why we clean flame sensors and simply re seating wiring will often times correct a situation,
The typical issues are the induced drat pressure switch and the orifice that it's tubing connects to on the induced draft housing.
This port must be reamed to clear carbon and if not will cause a problem such as locking out requiring resetting power or a 5 hour wait for some units,
You need to insure the limits and roll outs are all closed, its all failrly simple if the LED is tellingyou the error as they do today.

Model a36-15 - heat should be on but as the unit goes on and off sometimes the air blowing is warm and sometimes not which then takes numerous on/off to reset


This furnace has an induced draft motor and a pressure switch that has a tube that atttaches to the induced draft housing where it can sense the pressure or vacuum of the inducer motors running, thus proving to the system a induced draft exists with a purge period followed by a trial period for ignition, (either spark or hot surface ignitor) if the pilot is established another type of flame sensing device peoves a pikot flame exists allowing the main burners to run.

the pressure switch , its tubing and the orifices the tube attaches to piug with carbon or collet moisture if the tubes routed with a dip where condensate c an build and eventually block the ability of the presssure switch to sense the indicers operating, it can fail to close or waver open and closed back and forth as yours may be.

Goodman 95 %furnace keeps saying low pressure is stuck. changed out low pressure switch and high pressure switch and still have same problem.


That thang might be sensing a lazy flame. In other words the flames took too long in the board's opinion to quit sensing the flame. Yall probably need to do pressure tap on the gas valve.
Here is a realistic look at goodman fault codes and what to check fer and I am assuming you are not a tech and don't know this already and am hoping it helps:


Read one LED flash that stays on continuously to mean your furnace has no signal coming from the thermostat and will not operate. Turn the power off and check the thermostat for improper settings or connections.

Interpret one LED flash that blinks on and off to mean your furnace has locked out because it could not ignite after three tries, and must be reset. Interrupt power to your furnace for 20 seconds or lower the thermostat so your furnace does not try to heat, then reset the thermostat to the previous setting. After one hour of lockout, your furnace will automatically reset itself and try to operate as usual.

Decipher two LED flashes to mean the draft blower is not working, or your furnace has a short in the pressure switch circuit. Turn off the furnace power and repair a short or replace the pressure switch.


Read three LED flashes to mean your furnace has an open pressure switch circuit or it has an induced draft blower operating. Check the pressure switch hose of your furnace for blocks or an improper connection. Also, look for blockages in the flue, and tighten any loose wiring.

Translate four LED flashes to mean your furnace has a primary limit circuit open, possibly from loose wiring or blocked filters. Check and clean filters, tighten wiring and check the flue for blockages.

Interpret five LED flashes to mean your furnace senses a flame without a call for heat. This could be from a gas valve closing slowly or a burner flame lingering.



Read seven LED flashes as a warning of a low flame sense microamp signal. This could happen with a coated flame sensor or a lazy flame from poor gas pressure. Turn off the power and adjust the gas pressure according to the information on the rating plate.



See eight LED flashes as meaning an igniter circuit problem due to a bad igniter or an igniter connected improperly. Replace the bad igniter or check the ground wiring, making necessary corrections.



Decipher nine LED flashes to mean the high-stage pressure switch circuit will not close during a high-stage-induced draft blower operation. Your furnace may have a pinched or blocked pressure switch hose, a blocked flue or loose wiring.

Read continuous flashing on the LED to mean your furnace has a reversed polarity of 115 volts. Turn off the power and correct the wiring polarity after reviewing the wiring diagram.

Now here is how it should all go down:



Bottom dollar: it all goes back to type of gas, the initial setup, the pressure tap. and how it is wired up to begin with.
This will give you an idea where to start I hope.

LED CODE

EACH OF THE FOLLOWING STATUS CODES IS A TWO DIGIT NUMBER WITH THE FIRST

DIGIT DETERMINED BY THE NUMBER OF SHORT FLASHES AND THE SECOND DIGIT BY

THE NUMBER OF LONG FLASHES.

STATUS

11 NO PREVIOUS CODE - Stored status code is erased automatically after 72

hours. On RED LED boards stored status codes can also be erased when power

(115 VAC or 24 VAC) to control is interrupted.

12 BLOWER ON AFTER POWER UP (115 VAC or 24 VAC) -Blower runs for 90

seconds, if unit is powered up during a call for heat (R-W closed) or R-W opens

during blower on-delay.

13 LIMIT CIRCUIT LOCKOUT - Lockout occurs if the limit or flame rollout switch is

open longer than 3 minutes.

- Control will auto reset after three hours. - Refer to #33.

14 IGNITION LOCKOUT - Control will auto-reset after three hours. Refer to #34.

21 GAS HEATING LOCKOUT - Control will NOT auto reset.

Check for: - Mis-wired gas valve -Defective control (valve relay)

22 ABNORMAL FLAME-PROVING SIGNAL - Flame is proved while gas valve is

de-energized. Inducer will run until fault is cleared. Check for:

- Leaky gas valve - Stuck-open gas valve

23 PRESSURE SWITCH DID NOT OPEN Check for:

- Obstructed pressure tubing. - Pressure switch stuck closed.

24 SECONDARY VOLTAGE FUSE IS OPEN Check for:

- Short circuit in secondary voltage (24VAC) wiring.

31 PRESSURE SWITCH DID NOT CLOSE OR REOPENED - If open longer than

five minutes, inducer shuts off for 15 minutes before retry. Check for:

- Excessive wind - Proper vent sizing - Defective inducer motor

- Low inducer voltage (115VAC) - Defective pressure switch

- Inadequate combustion air supply - Restricted vent

- Disconnected or obstructed pressure tubing

- Low inlet gas pressure (if LGPS used)

If it opens during blower on-delay period, blower will come on for the selected

blower off-delay.

33 LIMIT CIRCUIT FAULT - Indicates a limit, or flame rollout is open. Blower will

run for 4 minutes or until open switch remakes whichever is longer. If open

longer than 3 minutes, code changes to lockout #13. If open less than 3 minutes

status code #33 continues to flash until blower shuts off. Flame rollout switch

requires manual reset. Check for: - Restricted vent

- Proper vent sizing - Loose blower wheel - Excessive wind

- Dirty filter or restricted duct system.

- Defective blower motor or capacitor. - Defective switch or connections.

- Inadequate combustion air supply (Flame Roll-out Switch open).

34 IGNITION PROVING FAILURE - Control will try three more times before lockout

#14 occurs. If flame signal lost during blower on-delay period, blower will come

on for the selected blower off-delay. Check for: - Control ground continuity

- Flame sensor must not be grounded

- Oxide buildup on flame sensor (clean with fine steel wool).

- Proper flame sense microamps (.5 microamps D.C. min., 4.0 - 6.0 nominal).

- Gas valve defective or gas valve turned off - Manual valve shut-off

- Defective Hot Surface Ignitor

- Low inlet gas pressure

- Inadequate flame carryover or rough ignition

- Green/Yellow wire MUST be connected to furnace sheet metal

45 CONTROL CIRCUITRY LOCKOUT Auto-reset after one hour lockout due to;

- Gas valve relay stuck open - Flame sense circuit failure

- Software check error

Reset power to clear lockout. Replace control if status code repeats.

If status code recall is needed, briefly remove then reconnect one main limit wire to display

stored status code. On RED LED boards do not remove power or blower door before initiating

status code recall. After one status code recall is completed component test will occur.

Heat would not come on and fan would not cut off even when thermostat was set to off. Took off the outside panel of the unit and red light was blinking 7 times - rollout switch fault. Since fan would not...


this means that the rollout switch was tripped by a flame coming from burners. could be a plugged fue or bad inducer motor, or a bad rollout switch. the fan will not shut off as a safety feature it keeps running incase the heat exchanger is to hot to keep a fire from starting. it will shut off after disconnecting power and restarting everything. watch the flames from burner when it lights to see if the actually roolout of the burner box toward the rollout sensor.

GMPN 100-4 furnace. Blower motor runs when not calling for heat.


The board is bad. The unit thinks a flame is present, so it tells the blower to come on. Replace the board.
