sounds like you are trying to remove the drum assembly; try a torx driver or a phillips screwdriver. There is a srew that hold that drum on and the bolt is in that black hole.

How do i remove clutch assembly on a poulan 445 pole saw ?

First you need to remove clutch drum. Inside the center is a trox that need to be loosen to remove it. Then you will to remove the spark plug so you block the piston movement using a piston stop or fill the cylinder with rope. The itself is left handed threaded and there will an indicating arrow on it as which way is off.

How do I replace starter rope on a poulan 445 pole saw?

I have pulled out the spark plug and stuffed some rope into the cylinder. The piston will then not be able to travel the full distance and will keep the clutch from turning. Use rope that will not shed particles. This will let you remove the clutch bell.

How do I replace the pull cord to my Poulan 446T PRO. It's a combination of a pole chain saw (8 inch) and a trimmer.

You will take the recoil assembly off the saw. You shoud see where the knot broke off the cord in the pulley. Put the cord through the case and the small hole in the pulley and tie a new knot. Count the number of turns it takes to take up the rope. There should be a small notch in the edge of the pulley you place the rope in to wind up the spring and not take up the rope.Add one or two turns more than you counted so the rope is coiled up snug then pull out the rope from the notch and let the spring retract it.

How to remove clutch on poulan pro

One way is air operated impact wrench. If you don't have access to that particular tool, you can take the sparkplug out and slip in enough rope so engine will not turn past top dead center. It will lock the crank shaft enabling you to loosen clutch nut without harming anything on the engine. When done, pull rope out, reinsert sparkplug and you're ready to go.

My Poulan Pro 150E pull cord will not engage to start the weed eater. The rope comes out adn retracts back with no problem, but there is no pressure on the clutch to cause the motor to start. There is...

Sounds like the starter dogs are broken. They are little plastic teeth that engage to turn the engine when you pull the cord. You'll need to replace the whole starter assembly to fix this.

NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DISASSEMBLE SPROCKET FROM POULAN PRO (replacing a worn sprocket)

I think it is an inboard clutch, use this as a guide to remove what you can:

The C-clips tend to fly when being removed. Please wear eye protection and exercise care.

Use this as a guide to remove what remains. Remove the rope/cord piston stop before installing new clutch; rotate the opposite direction and reinstall after piston again above the exhaust port.

  1. Check the IPL for your saw to see if any special tools are needed.
  2. There are metal piston stops available, when square (almost never) with the piston top these work well, if not square they have been known to punch through the piston. I suggest a length of starter cord or nylon rope be used instead of the piston stop (retain 6" ± so you can remove it). Make sure the piston is near the top of the cylinder before feeding the cord or it can fall through the exhaust port and damage the piston as it rises.
  3. It is probably a left handed thread (tighten it to loosen it).
Let us know how it worked for you. GL
Lou
If all you are doing is replacing the drive sprocket ignore outboard clutch instruction. If replacing the centrifugal clutch it is helpful.
