I have a fishman classic 4t that the battery isn't making a connection, what can I do? Do I need to replace it in my guitar?

can you tell if there is a wire broken? if you know how to use a vom meter you can check to see if you have continuity if you don't then you have a wire problem & make sure that your battery is good.

Humbucking pickup not working

Did you solder the wires to your plug well?
Did you place the pickup as in the manual?
Did you connect it to the preamp?

Usually the pickups for acoustic guitar need preamps to work with guitar amplifiers because the signal they produce is low.

Hello, I bought a second hand Martin J1 that has a fishman rare earth single coil pickup fitted. The problem is, when its plugged into the amp ( AER 60w) it makes a cracking noise every so often when

You have several options:

1. Do nothing and live with the occasional problem.

2. Check your guitar cable and the battery connections for loose or intermittent connections/noise. Try to see if it's the amp responsible for the noise....ie, Is it caused by vibrations, or maybe static....especially in winter when it's dry. Your home power may have noise on the line, so borrow or rent a power conditioner which filters out noise. If that fails, go to 3.

3. Bite the bullet and pay a competent guitar tech/luthier to repair it. Most of these issues are due to loose/faulty connections. Should be less than an hour. Hey....It's a Martin.

3a. Pay a guitar tech to loosen the end pin connector so you can see if you can repair it yourself.

Getting hum through the speaker but when i put my hand on the jack socket it stops

If you are in the US, take a length of light-gauge wire (AWG 20-24) attach it to the center screw that keeps the cover on over the standard dual AC receptacle and to a screw on the back of your unit. This kind of problem often is caused by a poor grounding of the cover or chassis.

I have a hum that almost disappears when I touch the output jack. It isn't at all related to leads, external influences. I have tried different amps, leads, new battery etc.

As a test, if you can find a system that you can connect with a short lead to a DI box set to "ground lift" and that then goes to an amp or mixer try it and report results. In the meantime VERIFY that your power system is grounded (three wire plugs on the amp) Verify you are at least 6 feet from the amp or other devices generating magnetic fields. I suspect the cause is bad grounding of the amp due to the receptacles or a broken ground pin someplace in the system.

Hi ive had a fishman pick up installed under saddle of my accoustic guitar its fine but something is wrong becuase wen im slapping the strings and tapping guitar the sound goes very quiet for around 1...

It is possiblle that the sudden pulse from the pickup due to tapping is saturating the input of your amplifier, and that is what actually kills the signal. Try this into a different amp as a test. Once you do the test I can offer some suggestions to try.

Unit inoperative, one LED blip on battery install only.

Its possible that if you changed strings the saddle might have changed position in its slot. It has to sit uniformly on top of the piezo element in order to work properly. Try testing the pickup(piezo element) first before suspecting the preamp.
