SOURCE: I need help installing my hp officejet 4500

There are two ways to scan a picture using your printer. You can scan by using the controls on the printer itself, or by using the software installed in your computer to initiate it.

If you use the software, your telling the printer to bring the image into your computer. If you use this option, you can edit your photos as soon as they are uploaded.

If you scan by using the controls on the printer, your sending the image to your computer.

Either method requires programming before you can use them properly.

If you wish to use the software, please install it on your computer and let me know when this is done so that I can continue with instructions on how to scan the picture to your pc.

If you wish to use the controls on your printer, please make sure you have an application installed in your pc that your printer will send the images to. If you have installed the picture software on your drivers disk then we can send to that program. If you do not have this software, please go to Hp.com and download it then install it before we can continue. If you wish to use this method, please let me know that this is your choice and verify that your ready to begin and I will continue with instructions on how to procede.

Reload your installation software. If you don't have it, use the Internet to download the latest drivers and patches from HP.com. Save them to your PC and make your own CD or, purchase a drivers disk direct from HP.
