Question about Xerox Phaser 8500/DN Printer

In trying to replace the maintenance kit in a Xerox Phaser 850 printer, the tray got caught in its tracks and broke. After replacing the tracks and putting in the new maintenance kit, I turned the machine on and got two Service report faults:
1. 15.004.45:96992
2. 22.613.05:96992
Don't know what they are or if I personally can do anything about it?? Help

Yes you can. What you are experiencing is the drum heaters are not working. The way to verify that is, if you can turn the lights off in the office your in, and then turn the machine back on. On the right side of the machine you will see a fan vent area, slots cut out in the cover where the fan is mounted. Watch through those openings for a glow inside the machine, I very much doubt you will see any glow. There are two 150 watt halogen lamps in there that are used for the drum heaters, one or both of those lamps have gone bad and need replaced. The code you are getting comes from the fact those lamps are not working and the drum does not reach operating temperature.
If you want to replace them or have someone that can, let me know I will send you the instructions. You can purchase those bulbs at any lowes or home depot, anyone who sells halogen light bulbs will have them. Cost should be around $15.

    Here you go. It really isn't difficult.

    first off you want to remove both side covers, there is one screw on the
    top back of the covers, and another on both covers, top front, you have
    to open the front paper path door to access the front screws. Then
    about the middle of the covers pull up and outward, they will kind of
    pop off, but thats fine, they have tabs on the bottom that can be pesky.
    Remove the paper tray, the green maintenance tray and set aside.
    remove the 2 green rails that the maintenance kit rides on. They both
    are held in by one screw. It will take some manipulating to get them
    out, but basically you push them slightly back, inward and twist
    slightly until they come out. TAKE NOTE of how the leaf springs are on
    the rails, A hint when putting them back in, is to take some scotch
    tape and tape them on the side to keep them in place, You will see what
    I mean when you remove them. But its much easier to get the rails back
    in when those springs are taped to the side. And no worry about
    removing the tape afterward, I will have no affect on the machine if
    its left in.
    Next, you look up and you will see a stainless steel
    curved plate. About 10 inches long and 3 inches high. There are 2
    screws on the top of it that must be removed. There are 2 tabs on
    bottom, Once the screws are removed it just lifts out.
    Now about
    midway up the paper path is the registration rollers. First, you have
    to go, ( looking from the front of the machine) to the left side of the
    machine, You will see a electromechanical clutch on a shaft with a 2 inch
    black gear with a belt attached. Remove the clip that holds the clutch
    on, slide off the gear and just let the belt drop in place.
    return to the front,The assembly is stainless steel, you will see a
    couple of rollers on it and some paper path actuators. There is one
    screw on the right side of that assembly that you need to remove, and
    on the left side, just by the bearing there is an "E" clip holding the
    bearing against the frame. remove the screw and the clip, Then move
    that transport CAREFULLY to the left and out. Be very careful to keep
    the 2 pieces together, there is a switch actuator that can be easily
    broken. So please take caution. On the right side, there will be a
    bearing that WILL fall out, and drop down into the paper feed area.
    Trust me it will do that. Just locate it and pick it up. When replacing
    that transport. I suggest, ( unless your considering suicide LOL) Put
    some white out or a little glue on the outside of that bearing when you
    press it back into the frame. Otherwise, IT WILL keep falling out and
    really try your patience. Just trust me on that one.
    Now, look in
    the front , just above where the maintenance tray would go. You will
    see 2 screws, about 10 inches apart, They will be surounded by a
    beige/brownish plastic. Remove those 2 screws, they hold in the heater
    assembly you want to repair. When you remove those screws it will not
    yet come out, wiggle it a bit and look on the right side so you can
    easily determine the conectors, plugs you need to remove. Some have 1
    some have 2.
    Once you do that, slide that heater assembly downward and out. You will see the 2 lamps in there.
    those little spring metal clips out,, replace BOTH lamps. Use some
    emery cloth to clean the contacts. Clean the reflector behind those
    lamps before replacing . That will make the heat transfer more
    Once those are in , in reverse order reassemble. Just be
    cautious replacing that registration assembly so you don't break the
    black actuator.
    It's really not hard, just takes some time. Give
    yourself an hour to an hour and a half. But that is your problem I
    guarantee it.

19.003:48 is the error code 33702 is the number of pages the unit has printed. the error indicates a power difference of +- 20% when trying to drive the printhead. The issue is the Electronics Module (System logic and power) or the Wave Amplifier (Printhead Controller). Both of the parts are fairly easy to replace. If it is the wave amp it is a somewhat affordable part.if it is the EM you should replace the printer. It isn't worth the fix.

There should be a door on the right side of the printer. Replace the maintenance kit and clean the waste ink tray.

Xerox 8560 displays replace incorrect maintenance kit

Was this a new maintenance kit? If it was new, try putting the old one back in, if it reports the same message, the pivot plate will more than likely need replacing. If it displays the original message i.e, replace maintenance kit, then the fault is with the new maintenance kit. Do check you have been sent the correct maintenance kit for your machine, part number should be 108R00675 for standard and 108R00676 for the extended Phaser 8560 printer and Phaser 8560MFP kit.
If it is the original maintenance kit and the error just appeared, as I am assuming you will have already tried re-seating it, the problem is likely to be the pivot plate again.

Phaser 8560 warns to replace the maintenance kit

Call Xerox. If they can't reset it, They will sent you a new Mtc kit. Thay will want that count sheet. Plus, They will not warrenty any kits over 6 months.

I looked everywhere for a solution for error 07,010.43:168130 and found that most everyone recommended I take it to a pro for errors starting in 07,010.43. However, before I resorted to that I cleared out the ink tray and replaced the maintenance kit, turned it off and then back on and it miraculously worked. A lot of ink had piled on the ink tray but the sensor did not alert me that it needed to be emptied.

So...I don't know how you're really supposed to fix that problem but the ink & maintenance kit thing worked for me!

They sell a lot of maintenance kits that way.I worked for a major Tampa are copier company for 10 years and they used every part until it just quit.However, you should line up a maintenance kit at the ready.Sometimes a counter will shut down the copier when it gets to the point where they want it to stop.

Paper jam related to Maintenance Kit

I wonder if you got some of the silicon lubricant from the maintenance kit on the rollers.
Try taking some alcohol or a cleaner such as fantastic, 409 etc and throughly clean all the rollers in the paper tray and along that transport behind the door.
If it isn't getting out of the tray you may coincidently have a smoothe feed roller, if it is feedinf a couple of inches out of the tray and stopping in the lower rollers I suspect a slipping registration clutch. Removing the maintenance kit seems like an odd thing to start a jamming problem. As I said clean the rollers, I guess see if you happened to have gotten a chunk of ink in the paper path from the catch tray.
Is there any damage to the paper? And tears or dents in the page?
Let me know we can resolve the problem.

Maintenance kit for Xerox 8500

Contact the company that you purchased the maintenance kit from.
They should have the solution or send you a replacement.
I know of no way to change the Xerox printer to match up with a non Xerox maintenance kit. They would not set the machine up to accept non Xerox products since that voids warranties.
