The HP Photosmart 320 camera is too old to accept a 2 GB card. It can only handle an SD memory card up to 128 MB. The information is on page 61 (page 63 of the pdf).) Amazon lists a Kingston 128MB card for ~$9 here: http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-128-Digital-SD-Package/dp/B00006BBY4 .

SD cards max out at 2GB. SDHC cards are larger, but the Photosmart 320 will not work with SDHC cards.

If you are receiving a "The card requires formatting" message do the following:

Press ( ) to display the Format Card option in the Delete menu. This will delete all data on the card.

Can you put the card in your pc and format it? You may have to erase the pics you have before formating it but usually it erases them for you while formatting.

Make sure the write protect is off by taking the card out of the camera, face the card towards you, look for a small white tab on the left hand side of the card, to unlock it push the tab down, it will be at the side of the card like this .
Also in the camera's menu you can format the card once the write protect lock is off.

Check the card and see that the little slide switch on the side is moved to the unlock or clear position. You try to delete images off another card to see if it is the camera that is defective. Is it still under warranty?
