Question about Sony DVDirect (VRDVC20) DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner

Open Question

I lost the CD Rom software for VRD-V20

I cant install it to my computer because I can't put in the drivers/plug-in for DVDirect. My computer a Dell 8250 will not accept without the drivers/plug-in for DVDirect. Please help. Jim Sullivan

download the software and drivers from here, install, then reboot.

Yes and no... you can not hook it up directly to your computer and burn copies of pix. You can however transfer your pictures to a memory card (SD, MS or CF) and then put that in the VRD-MC5 and burn your pix.

Yes and no... you can not hook it up directly to your computer and burn copies of pix. You can however transfer your pictures to a memory card (SD, MS or CF) and then put that in the VRD-MC5 and burn your pix.

1) Fixes recording problem with no audio using a Digital8 Handycam Camcorder recorded through IEEE-1394 or i.LINK connection.
2) Corrects signal detections with a MiniDV Handycam Camcorder as copy-protected.

Half of my dvd's will only read on the DVDirect and Sony tells me its my problem i am desperate


if the icons still show up as files on your computer you might try temporarily changing them to .jpg or .jpeg files just to turn them back into picture files instead of icons. try to open them in paint to save them as jpegs on your hard disk.

Go to Nero.com the company which made the software for the device and you can download it from there. That is what I did. You need to up grade from what came with the unit.

"Failed to Record"


1. go to device manager / right click on cd drive / uninstall driver / reboot and windows will reinstall driver 2. go to My computer right click on cd drive properties - check digital cd playback recording - check enable cd recording on this drive driver - update or uninstall reboot your computer Goodluck!
