SOURCE: miller Syncrowave 250 / no tig arc start

seems that you have a ground issue. make sure the ground clap is on barte metela and secured tight. make sure your tungsten electrod is about 1/8 of an inch form the edge of the cone. you will find that you will get a faster arc this way.

SOURCE: My miller sychrowave tig welder is not blowing

Remove the tig torch twist lock from the front of the machine. Step on the pedal as if you were striking an arc and gas should flow out of the twist lock port. If gas comes out of the port, your torch probably has a valve built in (many do) often this is a sleeve on the torch body which you rotate but may not be obvious.
If no gas out of port then its the solenoid or regulator.
You do have the machine in TIG mode and not stick?

Testimonial: "Your solution didn't solve the problem directly, but it led me to the solution. I had the tig torch hooked up to the "work" plug when it needed to go into the "electrode" plug. Removing the side panel to find the valve showed me where the argon hose went. Thank you!"

SOURCE: miller 250 dx tig willnot

The inverter or control of it has failed. Unit will require servicing. If you are not electronically adept, this is NOT DIY. Do your best to check the control pedal wiring, especially connectors and the cord near connectors.

How too set up a tig welder for welding thin steel?

DC current, electrode negative (DC Straight, DC-), High frequency for start only (really don't have to use high freq at all for steel but it helps establish the arc without scratching), 1 amp per thousandth of material thickness is a good setting to start, adjust from there for the job. 1 amp/thousandth also applies to aluminum- it has a lower melting point than steel but conducts heat much better so power to weld is very nearly the same.

Use a sharp tungsten, don't ball it at all (as you would for AC work).

Make sure you have a good ground. With high frequency you can get it to still arc but have a bad ground.

My tig welder wont arc unless I touch the metal with it

my guess would be the type of welding machine you have.usually there is extra switch which says start control also continious cycle , sometimes smaller machines dont have these switches to allow a wider variety of tweeking the welder ,also its ok if you have to touch the base metal cause thats what starts the contact with the work peice ,keep a arc after touching about 1/4 inch away from work peice ,also a good steady hand rest will make a good welder in any situation this should allow the arc to remaim stable with a comntinious weld arc puddle. happy welding

Arc starter on sync 350 interferes with equipment

It's the high frequency, ground the case of machine, work lead connection and work table, do not chain grounds together, this will cause a ground loop.

Check the point gap assembly for carbon tracking through the black plastic across the points, this is a common problem, also loosen and rotate the points to insure good connection.
