SOURCE: bryant furnance clicking, won't fire

try checking the pressure sensing switch,it has a tube that should run somewhere close to the inducer fan.sometimes this hose fills with liquids, and makes the units act funny.I don't know if you have a condensing unit or what.the furnace wont try to light if it cant tell the inducer motor is running.any induced draft unit will work this way.you can also do a temp. bypass of the pressure switch to make sure the contacts on it are closing just be sure your inducer fan is running, and you cant leave it like that its just a test.that is a safety feature you really need.

SOURCE: Pressure, draft safeguard, or aux limit swtch did not close or re

The limit switch on the inducer has tripped. There are two wires that go to a small disk about the size of dime that has a small button in the center. Push this little button and you will feel a littl snap and the unit should fire up. Check all the manual reset limits as well. If the unit still won't start, jump the two wires by bypassing the limit switch. If it starts, then replace the switch. Bypassing the switch is only temporary and could lead to death if it is used as a permenant fix.

SOURCE: Carrier Weathermaker 8000, inducer fans runs,

No, the blower motor is supposed to run and dissipate most of the heat. It sounds like the blower motor isn't running.

SOURCE: I have a Rudd furnace

Well first you want to verify that there is gas pressure coming from the connector. Turn off the valve and disconnect the connector. Then turn on the valve for 1 second and back off. You should get plenty of gas flow. Be careful doing this!. Then inspect the opening at the adapter to the control. There is a screen inside there. Make sure the screen is clear(not plugged with pipe dope, lint ect). When the igniter reaches the 2200 degrees you should hear the gas solenoid valve click open releasing gas. If you hear it click and no gas is released you will need to inspect the burner orfices. The orfice has an extremely small hole and there is a posibillity that they are plugged with debris. You will need to use a very small wire(like a tie strap) and insert it into each hole and see if there is anything in the orfice. If you do not hear the gas valve click then it might not be getting the signal it needs due to a weak igniter or flame rectification sensor. Does your furnace have a stand-by pilot that is lit by the hot surface igniter or does the igniter directly light the burner assembly?

Tip

Vent or inducer motor runs all the time

Usually when the Vent or Inducer motor runs all the time
The pressure switch is usually bad
The furnace board is seeing that the pressure switch is open, so it brings the vent blower on to close the pressure switch but the switch being bad won’t close so the furnace board will keep the inducer motor running continuously.

How do I wire a induce fan motor

Induced fan motors on older units are wired through the high limit safety on the stack - in series. When the furnace calls for heat, the induced fan motor comes on and after a time the furnace will light.

Older units have a temp switch in the stack that rotates to bring on the burners and blower motor. . When there is a call for heat, the induced draft fan motor comes on and then the burners will light.

After the heat exchanger is warmed up the limit switch will bring the blower motor on. That's basically how it works - there are two circuits - one for the induced draft motor and the burners and the other for the blower and high limit.

New units have a plug on the board you just plug in.

Furnace runs to temp but wont restart on it's own

It sounds like your furnace one of two things..... once reset, it could be running up to an overtemp condition and is tripping the high temperature limit switch. This typically locks on the blower and the inducer fan and locks out the gas control until the circuit is reset, then it does it all over again. Dirty filter or dirty evaporator coil restricting air flow is a typical culprit.

The other thing could be a tiny bit of oxidation INSIDE the barbed port of the inducer fan where the pressure switch tube slides on. This could be causing either a restriction or a blockage of the positive or negative air pressure required to close a pressure switch when the inducer starts. This will result in a normal sequence up until the gas valve needs to open.

Neither of these suggestions are specifically typical to what you describe, but are two good things to check considering the numbers of parts already installed.

Janitrol furnace, Model # GMT090-3, built in February of '02. The induced draft motor runs for a half second, then quits. Indicator light blinks rapidly and continuously, indicating 'incorrect twinning'...

I ran into a simalar problem and it was a short in the control wiring of the furnace. When there is a call for heat a relay closes to start the inducer the movement of air causes by the inducer closes the air pressure switch. This is where the problem starts.some where in the control wiring there is a dead short this causes the secondary (24volts ) to drop causing the inducer relay to open shutiing off the inducer which in turn opens the pressure switch removing the short and the cycle starts over again. The culprit in my case was the high limit switch which was shorting against the metal furnace housing. You can easily ccheck this by removing the two wires from the fan limit switch and powering up the unit to see if the inducer runs normally . If it does remove limit and replace if necessary.
hope this helps

Goodman GS9 propane furnace inducer motor runs continuously

it sounds like the low temp limit switch, the one that cools the furnace down with the burner off and the thermostat open, when it cools to a point the fan stops, the other switch in burner area turns burner off/on, hope this helps

Heat not coming on carrier gas pack code 31

code 31 indicates pressure switch did not close or reopened during the heat cycle....1st thing to check is the inducer motor,,this is a small motor that turns a small blower wheel that draws the exhaust gases through the furnace and blows them into the vent pipe....1st locate the inducer assembly,,most easily identified by the small plastic fan blade that cools the inducer motor as it runs..1st turn off tstat and turn off furnace power switch..then turn on furnace switch, then set tstat to heat, set the temp above room temp by 5 degrees...remove the furnace front cover, locate the inducer motor,,if it isnt turning, but is warm or hot after a minute or so,likely the inducer motor is bad..if it isnt turning and isnt warm after 1 minute, then likely the main control board is bad,,not turning the inducer motor when it should,,,,,if the inducer motor is running,,then the pressure switch isnt closing,, could be a bad pressure switch but more likely there is a problem with the venting...some possible problems that would cause the pressure switch not to close in an 80% eff furnace [metal vent pipe] are: [1] a blockage in the vent pipe, base of chimney, dead bird at the furnace where vent connects to furnace or down inside the inducer assy, accessed by removing vent pipe from furnace....if all clear the chimney could be blocked up inside,,is the draft good when vent is removed from base of chimney?..if furnace is a 90%+ type [pvc plastic vent pipe],,then check the intake pipe at the furnace by removing it where it attaches to top of furnace..is the intake clogged with anything?..then check the intake and exhaust pipes outside for blockages,,including ice/frost/snow at the exhaust pipe outlet..
