We have a 52" Samsung TV and recently it started to just randomly shut off. It is only 1.5 years old so it shouldn't be because of age. Can anyone help with this problem? Is there something that we should replace? Maybe it's overheating?
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Same problem on my friends Samsung LN52A650A. Never did the firmware update cause that refers to a random shut-off problem. I replaced (2) 1000 10 volt caps next to a heat sink with 1000s rated at 35 volts @105 degrees C. The tops on his were a little swollen and you had to really look close. The caps were 2 0f 4 inline caps. They were the smaller 2. TV works.
Sounds like the TV is going into the "protect mode", usually means there is a failure present and it's shutting down to ward off any serious damage to the electronics. The status light will usually blink a error code along with this symptom, call a service center and let them know how many times the light is blinking in a continious pattern and that will help them to diagnos your TV problem. Good luck and Merry Christmas!
Go to website Encompass Electronics.com type in your model number it will list part and part number ,you can also look for Lamp on E-Bay Encompass 1-800-638-3328 Also ck Color Wheel remove lamp take a flash light to watch when you turn TV on see if the color wheel is turning if it is defective set will shut OFF. But most likely its your Lamp.
Your TV is overheating.. easiest remedy is to point a fan at the back of the TV or... clean the inside of the TV, Im sure its full of dust and stuff... this prevents air circulation inside the TV thus creating more heat...
I am having the same problem with my PRT50V24D shutting off and blinking lights. After going to viore.com and calling the number listed, I got recording to call another number. When got rep on line I was told it is made by Samsung, Called their tech support and was told that sounds like power problem or bulb getting ready to go. Also if outside of warranty will have to call repair man to see what's wrong. I will have a repair man out next week and will post his results here. Most likely it's the same issue. This is the tech support number for Samsung 1-888-697-2247. Good Luck man. Matt
samsungs have convergence ic that heat up and cause tv to shut off but most of the time the colors will be off. Alsp solder connections could cause this on voltage regulators.my guess would be convergence ics cost for repair is 250.00
