SOURCE: only door speakers have sound on the cd mode

the amp requires a 12 volt power constant, and a 12 volt "on" signal. you prolly have the 12 v "on" hooked up to the car stereo's antennae remote, meaning your amp gets power when the radio is on, cuase the radio is sending a signal to the amp (thinking that it is sending a signal to the antennae to raise)

you do have one of those collapsable antennas, right?

My subwoofer keeps poping and then stops working

larryagross,
Sounds like you blew the speaker! The amp is sensing the voice coil is connecting to the speakers magnet or iron core and is going into a safe mode. It is possible to blow the coil even when the sub has a built in amp.

First make sure that you have the gains properly set ans not all set to their maximums. Second, disconnect signal to the sub then unplug the power for a few minutes. Third, plug the sub into a source of power on a different circuit using a surge protector.

Does the speaker make any popping at the time it powers up? If so you have a amp problem. If there is no sound produced, connect it back the the system using a different signal cable. Does the speaker now pop again when sound is produced. If so the speaker has failed. Contact a Velodyne repair facility.

My surround sound speakers don't work. No power

LCD will display which speakers are active. And this depends on 2 things: the source signal and decoder mode.
If source signal is stereo, only front L+R speakers are used. For 5.1 signal (for example DVD over HDMI / optical/coax spdif) all speakers installed (which are not set to None) are used.
To listen to stereo input signal using all speakers, switch decoder to enhancer mode.

I cannot get the rca speaker wires to produce sound. i can get sound out of the hard wire speaker wires

the rca speaker hook ups are there to carry a signal to an amp and the amp to put a signal out to your speakers so with that being said you will not get sound out of them due to the fact that it carries a real real low power signal

Message: amp guard. Sound worked for a while. Now ther is only popping and cracking.

, the message you are getting is "amp guard". This is the mesage it will display when a short in a speaker wire or speaker with low impedence is hooked to the internal amp and sends it into protect mode, shutting down the amplifier section while the rest of the unit continues to work.

check all of your speakers

Popping sound from sub woofer

disconnect the woofer and connect a different speaker see if other speaker makes the same pop if it don't then the woofer cone is defected if you have high watts and using stereo on high volume you can damage speakers.

No volume

The Bose system in the Z is wired to control the entire car's speakers. Each speaker has its own amplifier, and the OEM head unit puts out a line-level signal to each amp. Your Clarion unit puts out speaker-level signal (in effect, an amplified signal), into the Bose amps, and it's probably overdriving them and putting them into shutdown.

Your best bet is to replace the Bose speakers with aftermarket speakers meant for a speaker-level drive (which is what I did in my Z, and never once regretted it). If you do so, you'll need to run new wires to the speakers, or if you use the OEM wiring, you'll need to unplug the amps and run the wires from the amp harnesses directly to the new speakers. I think there is an adapter harness you can use that will tap into the line-out jacks on your Clarion, so that a line-level signal can be sent to the Bose speakers - I'd do a google search for "Metra harness 300zx" or something along those lines (Metra makes the lineout harness adapters - I use one in my Audi).
