Well it works most of the time but when I play a game it starts making these weird patterns of red blue and green. I'm guessing its something with my cord since it happens on my other games. I turn my xobox off then on and its fix only for like 3 minutes. Any help?

Re: A messed up Screen
Yes, your cord sounds like it has become damaged, replacing it is not too costly in most cases, unless you have to have it mailed to you. If the cable was kinked or pinched at anytime, you can damage the wiring on the inside of the cable, making the picture either not come at all, or badly distorted because the signals are not coming through properly.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

This is unfortunately due to the Blu Ray lens developing a fault within the disk drive or becoming dirty. Usually it will still play DVD's but not Blu Ray discs or games. You could try a laser lens cleaning disc but 9 times out of 10 this doesnt usually work. I am guessing this is the new PS3 slim model you have trouble with, which I am pretty sure are still under a year old from launch date. In which case I would give Sony a ring as this should still be under warranty. They should offer you a replacement free of charge.
If your using the hi-def cable(red blue green) check that its switched to either standard of hi-def. Also if your using the hi-def cable it wont work if u have the white head in the same time as red blue green! Hope it works for you!
I had this weird problem yesterday knowing I have not done any video setting changes, nor recall a pending software installation. When I start the PS3, green light comes up and then nothing happens. Insert the Game into the slot, blue light blinks and again nothing happens. No video, no sound, and no, it’s not output setting problem as many others have guessed in forums. Try to assign your wireless controller and you’ll know. It doesn’t. If it was on, output and controller assigning I assume should be two separate things. Solution:
With the PS3 in Standby mode (Red light on), press and hold the Start button until you hear a single beep, followed by double beeps.
Connect the controller using USB cable and press the PS button on the controller.
Now, the system restore screen (or whatever they call it) will come up like this
You have several options here for restoring the system, some will unfortunately wipe up all your data, others will make you lose the file naming. For me, I tried the option top-bottom and eventually had to do the Restore PS3 System. Luckily, all I had were demos, trailers, and game saves. only game I was really playing now was Prince of Persia. I felt terrible still though, but much better than if I was playing Ninja Gaiden or MGS right? Or let’s say a game Fallout!
Sharing it for others with same misfortune. Guess we’ll need the PS3 included in the backup plan then.

Look on the back of your tv and make sure that the red and blue cables are plugged into the right slot on the back of your tv. This would be the most common cause for something like this that you are describing.
