I turned on the TV, was watching tv for about 45 minutes, then i heard a soft click sound, the screen turned off and the sound stayed on. i can hear the tv program, but the screen is completely off. Can anyone with this problem please tell me what i can do, it feels to me like this is a manufacturer's defect if it is happening to so many others.

My HP 4260 TV is not displaying a picture or sound. I have called HP's help desk and they have not provided the fix. The HP support made me unplug for 30 seconds and then plug in while holding the power button. It did not work.

I called the HP Cae MAnagement line this afternoon where they are very helpful. They first said that we need to pay $629 for on-site service. She tehn offered to work with their advanced technical support team. She called with the same unplug/reboot apprach as the HP support line. It did not work again. She indicated that the solid Blue light states that it is not a hardware issue.

She is physcially going to their advanced support team to establish a game plan. I expect a call back later today.

LEt me know if anyone has insight into solving this problem.

My house burned Feb 2007. I had very good insurance and was back in another home in April of 07. Either way I went to bestbuy and bought 4 HP Plasma TV's 1 50" and 3 42" . One of the 42s went out in the first 9 months and was repaired by HP. The 50" went out in December of 08. I called HP and was advised it was out of warranty and I would have to pay $6?? for the repair. I sent the CEO an email and advised I had bought 4 TVs and they all have picture problems. I was assigned a case manager named Cheryl. She sent a YSUS board and a tech for the 50" which did not fix. When I called her back she advised me she was sorry but she did her best to fix and no her hands are tied. I have 4 HP TV's Less than 2 years old and only 3 work but have horrible pictures on them. I was noticing in jscruggs420 post that he had a 3 yo tv replaced at the same time I was speaking to Cheryl at HP but they could do nothing more for me. Even though I spent over $6000 on these tv I did not have the money to buy the extended warranties. JSCRUGGS420 can you email me your incident number with HP so I my give it to Cheryl and see if she can help me on the same lines? Also has anyone thought about a class action law suit to force the repair or replacements of these TVs? Just a thought.

They may be components made by other manufacturers, but they are responsible for the product they sell and stamp their name on. You can be certain that HP went back to LG and was reimbursed for the faulty components. I didn't pay LG over $1000 for a tv, I paid HP and as a result they are responsible for the product they sell and have a responsibility to their customers. Well, that is if they want to remain a reputable company.

I fix those boards - find a replacement at my store on eBay .

Of course the fix is only good until it happens again, which nobody in the world can predict in exact time.

if you're handy with soldering you can try and do it yourself. The replacement IPMs can be found again at the above store or elsewhere.

I must warn you, though, that sometimes it's not just the intelligent power modules that fail. Depends on the shock.

See some details at my blog at all fairness it must be said that this is not an HP fault in the first place.

If you think other plasma TVs do not have this problem you are wrong.

But there is a logic on putting pressure to the source and letting it deal with it as they like. In this case the panel and the Y sustain board are both made by LG, one of the largest plasma manufacturers in the world.

Plasma tv no picture no sound blown fuse fs2

The problem here is you cannot even find that---I suggest you either buy the y sustain board as only circuit boards are sold and NO parts themselves or take it to a shop for an estimate.

I replaced the module on YSUS board and replaced the FS2 fuse on hp cptoh-0602 plazma tv. TV worked great for about 2 hrs of usage time. however, while i was changing the channal few days later since...

Usually, when you replace Y-sustain board, for older plasma, they suggest to replace both Ydrive board (up and low). And sometimes, Z-sustaint.

Im not sure your are an expertise in this matter so be very careful when you open a TV because hasardous voltages can kill you in the worst escenario.

If you are not, don't work on your TV. It will be your sole responsibility.

Check ships on Y drive board (both board are installed on the right side of Y-sustain. They have square black ships that used to get bad. If they don't have aluminum cooler on them, you can see if they are burned or have holes on them. Old plasmas use to have issues with those boards. Before you installed the Y Sustain you should check Ydrive boards. Maybe you damage the Y Sustain because the Y drives weren't good.

Try to replace the fuse, disconnect the Ydrive from Y Sustain, turn on TV and check for voltages on Y sustain (panel has a sticker with each voltage). Hope you didn't damage Y sustain and can find Ydrive board to fix your TV.

And REMEMBER, you can kill yourself when you work on TVs.

Picture went black but you could still hear the movie

Hi- My PL4260N stopped working after about three years, the audio worked but no video at all. The TV worked fine until one more picture.
I found out that the YSUS and ZSUS boards in the TC fail alot...BUT you can get new or repaired ones off of EBAY...
First check for failed components (burned, loose, bulging, etc.) if nothing obvious is failed then check the fuses on the YSUS, ZSUS, and power supply boards...usually if a board has a blown fuse the board needs to be replaced...get the part number and search it in Google and eBay and you will find options for replace/repair.
Mine had a blown fuse on the YSUS board...I got it fixed for $75 through coppell TV (they are on Ebay)....
Now my TV works fine again!
Good luck.

HP 42" Plasma

I do not have a manual, but HP just replaced my Y Sustain board on my PL4260N (Model (ED429AA).
HP replaced it free because of a known problem with something they call "Plasma Mal-Discharge'.
The part number on the work order is 1032298-HS.

This did not fix my pixilation lines across the top.
I have been told that my Y-DRV is probably bad, but I need to pay for that replacement.
But, they did not verify that it is bad and did not guarantee this is what is wrong.
