If you can open the unit try blowing compressed air on the lens, if it does the same thing use a cotton swab with a small amount of alcohol and gently clean the lens with it. that should solve your problem if not you have a faulty laser optima.

Rca dvd player movies freeze up

Have you been using this DVD player for several years? If so, there may just be residue on the lens inside, which keeps it from reading a DVD and causes it to freeze. Have you tried running a cleaning disc through it to see if that fixes the problem? Worth a try. ;)

Getting a C 13 70 disc is dirty message only for DVDs that I'e burned recently. I bought a new pack of blank DVDs, the same kind I've always used, but every movie I burn on these new ones, they...

Hello, welcome to Fixya!

Was this player playing previously? And how long have you been using this player? I suspect the lens of the player. Once the lens of the player becomes weak, it won't play discs any longer.

The first thing my mind goes to, is the lens. The lens id responsible for reading/loading data on discs. So if the lens is unable to read the disc, there is no way the player is going to play the disc.

To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or probably, a mechanism problem.

Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.

If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.

To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.

Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.

Good luck.

My rca mobile dvd player is saying no disk or playing the start of a movie then freezing

its either the dvd lens is burnt out or dirty or the disc you are trying to play is dirty or damage try to clean the disc with a clean cloth wiping it outward in one direction, if you already tried other disc or tried the same disc on other players and it works it might be the lens. try to get a dvd lens cleaner if that did not work you might need to re-align the lens or replace it.
hope that helps. please rate

The dvd player just says it is loading and never plays the disk

Hello,

The reason your player keeps reading a disc but do not play it is either the lens is weak or dirty.

To fix it if it is dirty, all you have to do is to clean the lens with a lens cleaner.

To fix it, if the lens is weak,

  1. Get the appropriate screwdriver,
  2. Unscrew the cover of the player and remove it,
  3. Unscrew the disc tray, you will have access to the lens,
  4. Get a new lens and replace the lens,
  5. Reverse the process to reassemble the player.
  6. Test it with a DVD disc.
Take care

Kawasaki dvd portable player hesitating during play, picture breaks up , sound stops.

These are common symptoms for all DVD players. Common causes are damaged/dirty discs or dirty laser lens. Also, if the disc is a burned disc, instead of a factory-pressed one, there can be problems. Not all brands and types are created equal. DVD+R vs DVD-R, for example, can make a difference, and so can the manufacturer.
