If your new computer has Vista, you need to download and install new Vista drivers,

Download drivers here.

Follow instructions here km vista instruct v2.pdf

1250e setup e.pdf

This printer has USB port, that is faster than LPT1 parallel port, and does not need an adapter, Use the USB port and cable and do not use any adapter, just a regular USB cable.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
If for some reason you need to use a parallel port and adapter, read below, otherwise do only the above.

First ensure that the driver for the LPT adapter is properly installed, and that you have an LPT port on the computer.
Then re-install the printer drivers using the printer disk, verify that drivers are compatible with your new system.

Here is an example of adapter, I guess it is similar to the one you are using.

I take it this is a lead that connects the parallel port on the printer to a USB port? Did the adaptor come with any drivers and have you installed them?

Try a different USB port and make sure you are connecting direct to the PC and not through a USB hub.

These "adaptors" are a workround and not always reliable I'm afraid

also does the printer have the proper driver disc with it. If so you need to install the drivers. If driver are installed, try the program drivermax. It works wonders.

It is possible to convert the cable of lq-2180 from parallel to sb cable?

No!

Are you trying to connect your printer to a PC using the USB port?

If so, it would be far better to purchase a USB to Parallel port cable.

The data passing over the USB cable will have to converted from a serial format to a parallel format before the printed can store the data,

Next, the converted has to add the required control signals in order for the printer to read and latch the data.

Is it possible to connect an old, still very efficient HP 5L Laserjet Printer which uses parellel port cable to a new computer via a USB cable? If yes, what do I need?

Yes it is. You just need a Parallel to USB adapter. Here is a link to an example of what you need.

Parallel to USB

I have done this several times with Parallel Receipt Printers. Works Great!!

Another option would be to add a Parallel Port to your new computer. Here is another link.

PCI Parallel Card

The 1st option is probably the cheapest and easiest.

Good luck and have a great day!

Can the P2055d be connected with a parallel lead?

Most HP's if they have a port for parallel, it is a special plug on the back that looks more like a SCSI plug. If your printer has this plug you need the special cable, otherwise you will need an adapter to convert USB to parallel.

Can not print with Epson LX-300

The USB to parallel converter does not always work.

You should buy a Parallel port for your computer if you have can extra slot inside the machine. The cost for the parallel port is usually under $20.

I would recommend buying a Printer parallel port connection (PCI to LTP1), install it into the system, and use the printer parallel cable.

HP Laser Jet 1320n series

The HP LaserJet 1320 has a USB port and a Parallel port.

The HP LaserJet 1320n has a USB port and an Ethernet port.

USB-to-Parallel converter cables, like this one, are designed to attach a parallel device to a computer's USB port.

But you need to do the opposite (attach a USB device to a computer's parallel port). A USB-to-Parallel converter cable will not do this.
