Question about Razor Pocket Mod-bistro Retro Scooter

1 Answer

Hi I have a razor mod bistro and it doesn't run anymore. The battery are fully charged but I turn the switch and it attempts to run but doesn't.

When I turn the switch to run it. It acts like it trying to run but it stops as if it needs some juice. The battery measures fully charge going across the two battery. Do think that the controller needs replacing?

do they look bulged, or if you shake the batteries do they sound like there is sand in them?

  • Keith Blalock Jan 18, 2013

thats what i thought, but why don't i see them anywhere in the posting? so tell me again what are the batteries showing for a voltage and what is the charger putting out for voltage?

  • Keith Blalock Jan 19, 2013

13.05v and 12.95 and 19.85 across the two batteries and the charger was at about 19.85v.

    Adam Fjeld Jan 19, 2013

I think thats what your problem is, if the charger is only putting out 19.85 volts, then thats all the higher it can charge the batteries, and if your batteries are only putting out 19.85 volts thats not enough to power the motor, so i would start out with a new charger, if it doesn't then you might need new batteries also, do you won a soldering iron?

  • Keith Blalock Jan 20, 2013

yes i have access to a soldering iron

    Adam Fjeld Jan 21, 2013

We should probably start out by replacing the charger, then see if that resolves the issue, then if that doesn't we'll want to replace the batteries, I sell both 12 volt and 24 volt chargers, but they are for peg perego ride on toys, How would you like to proceed?

  • Keith Blalock Jan 21, 2013

I thought you was going to give me so info about doing some soldering that might save me some money. But if you can give your contact info we can discuss it.

I was just asking in case we need to replace the batteries, but you should definately start with a new charger

  • Keith Blalock Jan 25, 2013

It is not the charger because I was able to use another meter and it should a voltage of 27v.

  • Keith Blalock Jan 25, 2013

It measured 27v so it seems to be okay.

ok take out the batterys and unsolder the ends, then measure the voltage of each battery and let me know what each one is showing

  • Keith Blalock Feb 05, 2013

    Each battery is showing 12.75v.

Try jumpering the battery directly to the motor and see if that works, first

My battery is not reading a full charge anymore. I'm going to check on getting new batteries if I can't get these charged back up.

  • Keith Blalock Jan 15, 2013

I was able to connect the batteries to the motor fully charged but at first it attempted to move then nothing at all. It appears like the motor is bad. Any other suggestions.

What are the batteries showing for voltage? also what does your charger show for voltage?

  • Keith Blalock Jan 15, 2013

One battery reads 13.5 the other 12.95v but the two measure only 19.85v at the connector. The charger showed 19.85v, but when I take measurements at the connectors the voltage display on the meter, just flash and goes away.

    Adam Fjeld Jan 15, 2013

the charger should be putting out at least 24 volts

Most likely a bad battery. Check out put voltage on all posts. If it's 12 Volts DC or more, then it should be ok, and you'll need to start looking in the wiring such as the speed control switch. If not, your problem is a bad battery cell and you should replace it. NEVER TRY TO SERVICE A BATTERY!!!!!

I have Norelco 6867XL. After fully charged, my razor will lose all power one day after. I don't know what happens. Can you help me resolve that problem. Thank you.

Hello,
the battery of your Norelco 6867XL is weak and cannot hold charge for long any longer. The cell in the battery as become very weak such that it cannot hold charge for a very long time anymore. This it why it looses power one day after it is fully charged.
Have the battery replaced and problem should be solved.
I hope you understand the above, if you don't please let me know for further assistance.
Regards.

If thats the voltage from the 2 batteries joined together then the voltage is far too low to run an E100, sounds like one of the cells has died, must have a 24v combined output.

The Battery takes a charge, but not enough to make it move. Do I need a new battery or something else?

Make sure the battery is full, if not, add distilled water to full mark. Clean the battery terminals and make sure they are tight. The folks at Auto-Zone will test the battery for free.

On an E 100 Razor scooter, the battery charger shows charged

We had the same problem that I found to have a very simple fix. It seems all that needed to be done was hold in the reset button a few seconds while the battery charger was plugged in and the light on the charger turned to red and the battery charged again. Seems like too easy of a fix but it worked for my kids scooter.
