Question about Sony DCR-DVD610 DVD Handycam Camcorder with 40x Optical Zoom

1 Answer

I interrupted my finalization of the disc on my handycam and now can not continue

I was finalizing my disc and accidentally pulled out the power supply to the camera. This stopped the finalizing and now I can't try again or unfinalize it. It says that movie recording is disabled now and so I do not know how to retreive this data on the disc.

You can try data recovery software such as CDroller or "Bad CD DVD repair"
Or send it off to a mini dvd recovery company such as www.minidvdrepair.com
I used them in the past with great results. I believe I paid around $100

SOURCE: will not finalize

The DVD could be corrupted. Refinalize it and see what happens. Make sure youre using the electrical outlet and not the battery when your doing it.

SOURCE: movie recording disabled

I have the same problem.  If you have taken the disk out of the re-corder, then you can no longer finalize the disk...and you will potentially lose the data on the disk.  Their only solution was to take it to a professional media service and see if they could recover it...what a joke...at no point in the manual does it indicate that you cannot remove your disk or face the potential of losing your recording...I lost the recordings of the birth of my son...I will never forgive that...

SOURCE: Finalize DVD

Some Camcorders need you to plug the charger to enable you to finalize it. This is to avoid your disc or data be destroyed or corrupted should your camcorder ran out of battery.

Nakamichi cd cassette player 1 not spinning discs

There's a Music Bank 7-disc player in use in my bedroom these days. Nice unit, but they used to come in for service once in a while- from what I could tell, these units don't 'park' the CD drawers on a soft power off- they simply shut down. When powered up again, they sometimes let the disc last in play slide off the tray & jam the machine. I've had no issues, as long as I always hit stop, wait for it to park, and then shut off. The analog output's sound has been very good (has a coax out as well).

We got a game stuck in the wii consele....We tried ejecting the game as well as turning the game off...nothing is working.

You have to try out all these options first:

Turn the Wii off and on again after about 20 seconds. Press the eject button again.

Unplug the Wii's AC power supply if Step 1 doesn't work. Wait 1 to 2 minutes, and trying to eject the disc again after turning the Wii back on.

Hold down the eject button for 5 to 10 seconds.

Try ejecting the disc with the Wii at different angles. If you hold the Wii upside down, it may help the disc fall out.

Call Nintendo and send the Wii back if non of these steps work. In most cases, a disc stuck in the Wii should be covered by warranty.

Nintendo says to see if power light was coming on, AC adapter reset. unplug from both ends for 90 seconds.Hold eject button for five or 10 seconds.

If none of this works, you might wanna try this, but it is not a preferred method, if you ask me, even though it can be done.

To remove a disc you'll need three sets of tweezers. And possibly a bobby-pin.
First you need to turn the Wii upside down (and preferably unplugged from a power source)
Second, using two sets of tweezers, press the small metal "guards" down. These are located just inside the mouth of the Wii. They're there to keep the disc from free falling, and inhibit their removal. They aren't locked and shouldn't be difficult to press down.
Third, you'll need to reach "up" through the middle of the mouth with the third set of tweezers to grab hold of the disc. I'd highly recommend using flat tweezers, not sharp ones as the disc may become scratched.
NOTE: The disc itself rests on the internal carriage (through the center hole of the disc) and if upside down, should fall into your tweezer's grasp easily. If it doesn't then you need a bobby pin to dislodge. Gently press the bobby pin on top of the disc and then grip the disc with the tweezers.
Finally, gently pull and the disc and push on the bobby pin and the disc will slide out easily .

This can be done with one person, but helps if you have an extra hand.
Good luck.

I think i accidentally hit the lock button while it was on and when i pulled the battery out (wasn't responding to poweroff button) it wouldnt come back on again

Try this remove battery and power supply. Hold the power button for 30 seconds. Plug in power supply (leave out the battery) now press the power button. It should power on, after bootup shut down laptop unplug power supply, insert battery then power supply and power up. All should be well. good luck.

In order to Finalize you have to plug in the power adapter.
It took me forever to figure it out.

Retrieve data after initializing

Usually the video is retrievable when finalized. I don't think it's possible to reintalize a disc if video was already burned to it.

Disk cover open, accidentally. Turn on power again

Haha, yes finally what a pOS!, But I got it!!

So I got to thinking well the sensor or something be messed up a bit. I found that the cover a very slight amount of play.

So hell , I put a C clamp on it. I started to record. Sweet, it worked!!! The cover was stuck so the sensor wasn't tripping.

Well that worked, but I didn;t want a c clamp on my camera all the time, so I had some Automotive Amazing Goop,

I lined the cover edges with the sealent and let it dry. Now when I close it , it stays closed and records without a problem.

The only thing is its tuff to open, I use a skrew driver, or small nail.

But it was unusable before, and at least I can use it.

Good luck.

Power disconnected during finalization

There's no way you can continue the finalization of the disc, the disc has been marked as finalized already, even a single power fluctuation when you are using ac power adaptor can affect the disc finalizing process, so it is better to use battery when disc finalizing
