To turn the volume hold down the play/pause button
To turn the volume down hold down the stop button

Take it to the Tech support store.

go to direct tv website and search for the code.

The DVD player maybe faulty and it could be still under warranty.
Take it back to the shop where you bought it to have it repaired ot replaced under warranty.

It won't play for one of two reasons:
1. There is something inside the DVD player, which keeps it from playing.
2. The DVD player's battery has run out of juice and can no longer play, meaning the player needs to be replaced.

1 Manually turn the device on you want to program.

5 Aim your remote at the device and hit power, your device should turn off. (If the device doesn't turn off start over and move on to the next 3 digit code.) Turn you device back on with the remote and try your volume and channel buttons just to verify everything is working properly.

6 If none of the codes worked for you continue with the next step.

7 Manually turn on the device you want to program.

8 Press and hold setup until the light stays on, then release the button.

9 Press the button on the remote of the device you want to program. (EXAMPLE: TV, VCR, DVD, CBL/SAT)

10 Press and release the power button until your device turns off. Wait a couple seconds before each time you press power. (This is going through a code search with your remote, you might have to press the power button up to 250 times.)

11 When your device turns off press enter. The light on the remote should go off.

12 If neither of the steps worked for you then your device is not compatible with that GE Universal Remote.

I had same problem with a sylvania portable DVD: no disc. After cleaning the laser didn't work, I took the unit apart, and found that there is a small gear that moves the laser back and forth across the disc.. The gear could easily be misaligned with a rough bump along the drive.. All I did was realign the gear to the center where the disc was. Inside, there was even a small lever to pull back on to do this.. I also noticed a small Ribbon cable connecting the laser to the main board. Again, seemed nimble. I detached the ribbon, cleaned the connectors with alcohol and reattached. Happy to say, it works perfectly now. :). Good luck.

Multi-Region:
Put DVD into player - wait for regional code violation screen to appear
Once this has occurred press the M (Memory) button on your remote
Press 1 for Title 1 and Play on the remote - this will over-ride the regional code violation detection menu
You can watch the movie by pressing Fwd on remote and change chapters by using the T (Title/Chapter) button on the remote)

Switch On DVD player without disc in machine
Press Enter
Press 8, 4, 2, 6 and 9
Press Enter
Player should turn itself Off. If not switch it Off
Switch player back On
