Question about HP Pavilion Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have an HP pavillion p6653w computer which started crashing recently. Some times it would blue screen and restart its self and sometimes it would lose video signal then restat its self. Sometimes it would freeze. I asume that when the video signal was lost the keyboard and mouse was also lost. It progressed from this to having to unplug the power from the system and plug it back in then having to leave it unplug for hours and a couple of times two days before it would restart. Now as before when I power it up the fans run but no video signal so I assume that it is not operating in the background. This has been the case for the past several days now. I change the ram when it first started thinking that there ma be a memory problem and the problem seemed to decrease in frequency for a couple of day then increased again. Not much of a clue since there has not been much consistency with this problem. I feel the power supply is poor only 250 watt and no cut off, that is why I have to unplug each time but it is consistent in spinning up fans, hard drive, etc. Processor heat sink and fan are clean and unsure of processor heating however this problem occuring on start up as well as after several hours of running. I do not see any visual signs on mother board ie. burnt spots or bubbling of capacitors however electricity has this aggrivating problem of being invisable and I have no meter with low enough reading capacity to test the board. I may need to swap parts to find problem but do not want to change every thing at once, so if any one has any definate or probable answers to the problem I would appreciate the help.

It's either the Memory or motherboard. Since you already swapped out the memory, next step would be the motherboard.

SOURCE: computer restart

Hello,
Have you tried replacing the entire heat sink with a bigger fan. They sell heat sink plus fan but you have to buy one that fits unto the motherboard.

Also, if this processor keeps heating up, the processor itself might get damaged, if it hadn't already. You might want to get the processor itself tested at a computer repair shop or if you have another computer using same type of processor.

Thanks,
Lolita

SOURCE: System was up an running then, Then shut down

It sounds to me like it overheated and something burnt out, but I could be wrong. The main pieces in a desktop computer are: power supply, motherboard, cpu, ram, and video card (which is on the motherboard for lower end systems.)
Each one will need to be properly tested to find out which part(s) is(/are) failing, and the failing part(s) will need to be replaced.

sounds like your system is booting up and running due to the hold power shutdown procedure. you might try replacing the video card or adding one if your video is integrated.

Computer will not come on loud sound from pavillion repeats it self. The fans will spin and the blue light on pavillion comes on. moniter screen will not come on the power light is on

On some computers, when you turn it on, the fan starts to run at 100% of its speed, i.e., very noisily.
Then, when it is detected that the computer is functioning, and _not_ over-heating, the fan will slow down, and quiet down.

So, what is the nature of the "loud sound" ?
    Continuous? Beeps, in some pattern?

Take the computer to a qualified technician, for better trouble-shooting.

Try booting your computer in safe mode... when your machine starts press F8 and go to Windows. Run for a couple of hours and see if this problem happens.

If you have system restore running, restore back to a point when you didnt have the problem

Yes. This means your hard drive has crashed. Return it quickly and get another one. Luckily for you this didn't happen later when a lot of precious files would have been lost.
