Why does my toilet occationaly overflow with no solid waste and just toilet paper

Several times in the last year my toilet has overflowed when flushed with no solid waste and just a little paper. There appears to be no clog in the line as normal operation resumes after the overflow. Is it possible that the cheap fixture from home depot manufactured "off shore " is at fault?

Not really. I believe there is a clog in the trap. This happened to us last year. I took the toilet up and found a cloth in the trap ad a pencil. This fixed the problem. Now some traps are poorly designed and meet only minimum specs. Before taking it up, take a hose and force water down it wide open , this could blast out the obstruction.

SOURCE: Downstairs toilet won't stop filling, upstairs toilet won't fill

for the upstairs if the valve is fully on there is not much you can do other than replace water service to the house or heaven forbid repipe.Valves usually don't restrict fill volume. But you can take the supply loose from the tank and stick it in a bucket turn the valve on and check the flow.this should narrow it down.Down stairs repair or replace flush valve

SOURCE: Kohler one-piece has no flushing power

Don't flush more water! Trash the toilet and replace it with a toilet that uses less water and flushes efficiently; practically every manufacturer makes a dual flush or eco model. Spend your money on a good toilet rather than paying for and wasting water every day.

Repair basement ceiling from toilet overflow

If the toilet that overflowed had liquid and or solid human waste in it at the time of the overflow, then it is considered "black water" and a biohazard. You could let it dry out, but you may experience foul odors. It is best to open up the ceiling, clean the area, and repair if this is the case.

How do I remove a geberit waste and overflow fitting

Tub overflows have a connection behind the drain flipper. You will also need to get under the tub or into the wall behind the flipper to cisconnect the nuts connecting the drain pipes.

The water will not refill! The inner plastic part doesn't work and it's only one year old! I must pour a bucket of water into the bowl to flush waste.

Does this tank have the plastic bucket around the flapper inside the tank. If so this is a water saver toilet. A few tricks to increase the water. I have had to remove the bucket by cutting it maybe half into to increase the gpm.
This will increase it to more than 1.6 gpm's. It can be cut down just be careful in doing it if this is the problem.

Next make surethe fill valve has line running and attached to overflow tube. This will fill the bowl with the needed water for it and the tank.
Next make sure the water is set to the mark either on the tank or the overflow tube. If no mark to within 5/8" to top of overflow tube .

I've just fitted a Nabis breeze and am having flushing problems.

Well many toilets flush very high before flushing, they appear to almost overflow, but if that doesn't seem like your problem, I would recommend adjusting the float on the Fluid-master fill valve so that there is less water in the tank when it flushes.

When the toilet has been flushed (push button)it makes a hissing noise and then overfills so the water is going away in the overflow pipe. it was fitted 3 years ago. thankyou.

on your ballcock assembly there is an adjustment device (usually a screw) you just need to adjust the water level so it does not go over the overflow and have the "running" sound. there is a reccomended level usually stamped on the tank or the overflow tube.

hope this helps

Modern toilet cisterns without overflowprovision

Most modern flush units have built in overflow protection, if the water level rises above the flush device then water runs into the toilet itself rather than out of the overflow pipe to the outside as in older toilets.

You could always check by taking the top off the cistern and push down the float device with your finger to see what happens!

hope this helps
