Follow the steps and fix it. God bless you

The power up test sequence has detected a key in the operated condition. The power up test

sequence is performed every time the unit is turned on (powered up). This test is performed

because a permanently stuck key will inhibit the correct operation of the unit.

Possible Causes

1. A key on the display housing is permanently stuck in the operated condition.

2. One of the upper PCA's keypad interface chips has failed.

3. Liquid (perhaps perspiration) is present on the surface of a touch sensitive display.

Possible Remedies

1. Remove the keypad connector cable from the upper PCA. Restart the power up sequence, if

the ERROR 5 is no longer present, the keypad is the cause. The keypad is typically part of

the display housing. Replace the display housing to correct the problem.

2. Remove the keypad connector cable from the upper PCA. Restart the power up sequence, if

the ERROR 5 is still present, the upper PCA is the cause. Replace the upper PCA to correct

this problem. Most upper PCA's are provided without software. Therefore, the software (chip)

must be removed from the upper PCA being replaced and re-installed on the replacement

upper PCA.

3. Wipe the surface of the touch sensitive display clean of all liquid. Restart the power up

sequence, if the ERROR 5 is no longer present, the liquid was the cause.

The P4 Connector came off the CD Rom on a Dell 531s desk top computer

Unplug PC, then re-attach. Power connectors are interchangeable as long as they fit. Many power supply's don't even mark them. Meaning you can use anyone. Including any spares for later expansion.

Hp 7100 - replaced motherboard - still getting 5 beeps at POST At first I had an error code of 5 beeps - means processor. You can't replace the processor on this pc. So I purchased a motherboard. I am...

If you placed the same processor in the new motherboard then it would appear that the problem is following the old processor.

One common mistake with p4 cpus is the 2nd power supply to the motherboard. Make sure you have plugged it in. Its a small connector that is only required for pentium 4.

If not the above, you could check the bios settings for processor clock speed to make sure that you're not overclocking by too much. Also check the heatsink/fan. A processor will fail very quickly with inadequate cooling. If everything seems ok but still getting 5 beeps, try a new cpu or memory.

Motherboard

2.2Ghz should be the fastest for your motherboard, also the cpus FSB is MAX 400Mhz

the socket is S478

only old cpus work in your motherboard new and currently being sold, core 2 duo family prosessors wont work. they all have fsb 667 or higher and your motherboard only supports up to 400fsb

here is the best cpu for your pc

Foxconn 661M03C-6L MB and Pentium P4 1.8GHz Processor

I suspect the issue is that the 1.8 uses a 400Mhz system bus speed, and the mobo likely only supports 533 and 800.
