White screen from initial start up. When connected a remote screen (TV) the display on that screen is correct. Graphics card/processor maybe?

If this is a HP laptop then it is probably the cable from the screen to the motherboard that has either come loose or gone bad.

It might be that the problem is within the display either Graphic Card or the LCD the best thing you can do is to call Lenovo Tech Support Dept check if you still have a warranty for Depot so that you can send it to the depot for repair via FEDEX free of cost

Contrary to what angelo-mlc has written, this problem is nothing to do with the monitor, which is clearly working.It is a graphics problem.If the GPU IS an integrated Nvidea 8600m card, there is an issue with it. As your model has been off the market for at least a couple of years, obviously you warranty has run out.Despite that, in some countries the computer seller would still have an obligation to you if it involves an inherent defect, which in this case it does.
For example, in the UK you would be protected by the Sale of Goods Act for up to 6 years, and for the same period in Singapore which has adopted the UK Act. Some other countries have similar legislation.Remember, it is the retailer that has the obligation. Not the manufacturer..
Action in the UK would be as follows:. Get on to the retailer's customer service by phone. No need to go there..Tell them you have an 'inherent defect' and you want your money refunded.Tell them what the defect is and that it is known to have an inherent defect.Refuse any offers to repair, or examine by their techicians. Don't accept any statements saying you should refer to the computer manufacturer, or to Nvidia.You don't have to do that, and the retailer knows you don't.Ask to speak to a manager. Get the name of the person you are speaking to, and their job title.
Tell them if you don't get a refund you will take it up with Trading Standards, and if necessary,with the small claims court.You may get an offer, on the grounds that you have had use of the item, and it has depreciated. Ask them to put it in writing to you.If it is derisory,reject it in writing too. You are very likely to get an improved offer, and it will then be up to you to decide whether to accept. If you don't receive an offer at all, get the address of customer services, and make a claim in writing.Send a copy of your claim to your local Trading Standards office.(Get the address from your local council, or from public library). If you fail to get a reply, or don't receive an acceptable reply,then it is time to get pay a visit to your local Trading Standards. You could also file a case in the small claims court which is almost sure to find in your favour, and would cost the retailer a lot more than compensating you.
Note. During the course of your claim, you may be asked to produce evidence of 'inherent' fault'.You won't be asked that unless the retailer knows of the fault and is merely seeking confirmation that your machine actually has that defect.
That is quite legitimate, and you could ask any REPUTABLE repair facility to check and give you a certificate.That should cost you £30 or £40, which you can claim back from the retailer when it selles with you, because if it gets that far, it WILL settle a proven defect.
Don't forget, this procedure can only be used when 'inherent defect' is claimed. In the case of this nvidea GPU chip, the defect is well know. You can find more information about that by 'Googling'.
It worked for me and for others I know. I got £300 back. It paid for quite a good part of my new Toshiba, due to prices falling a lot over the past two and a half years.
One last thing. Forget repairs. No matter what anyone tells you, it would involve a new mother board, and then you would only finish up with the same type of graphics chip again.

How to fix it,it has problem with display


check your signal cable, try to clean connections on the ends of cable, are you using any adaptors to connect the screen, maybe the adaptors arent working correctly. Is or was your GPU overclocked?. There could be many reasons, but start with the simplest and work your way thru.

I JUST CONNECTED THE PC TO TV WITH VGA TO RCA CABLE BUT PICTURE WON'T COME ON THE TV SCREEN


Make sure that you have the correct display mode selected. While many connections like a VGA to VGA connection will automatically detect, I don't think a VGA to RCA adapter will. Go to control panel/display and see if your computer has detected the second display.
Also make sure the RGB or RCA is selected as the input source on your TV.
Once these are both set correctly you should be in business!

A suitable graphics card will help your computer system display better graphics. You will need a graphics card and maybe you could do with at least 1GB of RAM.

Looking over at crucial.com it says that your A30 can use PC2700 and PC3200 DDR. Maybe go other there and see if your new ram matches what they sell. I know it's not much but maybe a start.

Need directions on how to hook system up to tv


Hello,

Check the back of the system, you will find Video out, then Audio out (left and right). Connect the yellow cord to video out, and the white & red to Audio out appropriately.

Then connect the other end of the yellow cord to "Video in" at the back of the TV, then the red and white to audio in at the back of the TV.

After connecting as directed above, turn on the TV, then turn on the system. On the TV remote control, press "AV" or "Source" depending on what is written on the remote and there should be a display. If there is no display, press the "AV" or "Source" on the remote once or twice more and there should be a display of the receiver's welcome screen on the TV. You might also need to press "Source" on the system's remote if there no display.

Let me know if you don't av display even after following the above steps. The above is the correct way of connecting so it should work.

Note; The White and Red cords stands for Audio left and right, while the yellow cord stands for Video. The yellow is suppose to allow your system display on the TV screen, while the Red and White is to bring out sound.

Your display problem may be in the graphics controller on the motherboard. It might also be in the display itself, which contains a lot electronics. Yet another possibility is that the system is freezing up completely, and the white screen is the result.

Since it takes a while for the screen to go white, the trouble is most likely due to something heating up. I've fixed a lot of laptops that freeze up because the processor chip overheats. Sometimes it's because the fan isn't working, or the screws holding the fan assembly down work loose.

Hook up an external monitor to the laptop for testing. You might need to enable the external VGA connector with a function key before you'll see anything. If the motherboard is freezing up, the external monitor will quit as well when the laptop display goes white. If the computer keeps working normally with the external monitor, though, you know the trouble is in the graphics circuitry or display.

Unfortunately, it's hard to say for sure whether the motherboard or display is at fault. My experience has been that a completely blank display is usually a motherboard failure, but not always. Failures in the display itself usually cause lines or other problems with the image, but you still see something.

Replacement motherboards are often available at reasonable prices, but displays often are not. You may want to take this computer to a service shop and let them figure it out and give you a repair estimate. That way you won't wind up buying a part that may be costly and not fix the trouble.

Trying to connect Inspiron 6000 to TV



If there is no display on your TV, HDTV, or Projector, please make sure that all of your connections are set up properly and that you have enabled the display in the Catalyst Control Center. The connectors that you will be using would be Svideo for TVOUT, DVI-to-HDTV (Component video), VGA-to-HDTV (Component video) for HDTV, and DVI, VGA, or Svideo for the projector.

  • Turn off your PC and your TV, HDTV, or Projector.
  • Ensure that your card was installed correctly, as per the Getting Started Guide.

  • Looking at the back of your PC, locate the needed connector or the supplied adapter cable; attach one end of the cable to your graphics card and the other to your second display.

Starting Windows with TV or Projector Display Enabled The TV screen may become scrambled during the initial Windows® logo display. This is only a temporary effect and your screen will be restored within a few seconds. During start up, your RADEON will go through a sequence of mode settings, during which your TV display will remain blank. This process takes only a few seconds and helps program the TV display.
  • To enable the second Display
  • Right-click anywhere on your desktop
  • Click Catalyst Control center
  • View
  • Advanced view
  • Display manager
  • Detect Displays
  • You should have the second display picture under “Attached displays currently disabled
  • Drag it to the box on top of it
  • Apply
  • OK
If for any reason the second display does not get detected, please do the following:
  • Open the CATALYST CONTROL CENTER
  • Go to Display options
  • Check “Force TV detection” *
  • Apply
  • OK
* Force TV: Allows you to force TV detection if the ATI driver does not automatically detect TV-out connected to the graphics accelerator.
Possible issues:
In case the users display does not natively support HDTV display timings in the EDID, you can add standard HDTV modes so that the usual HDTV resolutions (720p, 1080i, 1080p) are listed in the Display Manager resolutions. You can also create custom HDTV timings to solve any kind of over-scan options (for cases when the windows desktop appears to not fit on the HDTV screen, and the outside boarder is cut off).
For more information on connecting your second display to your Video card, including supported output device combinations, please refer to your user’s manual.
