when you start the computer hit control and f11 then release them at the same time. In the Dell PC Restore by Symantec window, click Restore. Alternatively, press <Tab> to highlight Restore, and then press <Enter>.When a warning message appears stating that all data will be lost, clickConfirm, or press <Tab> to highlight Confirm and then press <Enter>. The Progress window will appear. Once the restore process starts, Dell PC Restore by Symantec usually takes about 8 to 10 minutes to finish. Click Finish or press <Tab> to highlight Finish and then press <Enter> to restart the computer.The software is now installed as it was when the computer was first received
Restart the computer and as it is restarting Press F11 and follow the on screen instructions. If this does not work then one, change is necessary which is, as the computer is restarting ,Press F11 and CTRL together and follow the on screen instructions. Some times the key combination is different so try F10 if the above does not work. good luck
In order to reset your computer to Factory default settings without the disc, you can follow the instructions below.
1. Turn on your computer. Once you see the DeLL Logo Press and Hold the CTRL button then while holding CTRL button, press F11 2. You should see the Dell PC Restore by Symantec application. 3. You can click Restore and Confirm the restoration. 4. It will take 10-15 minutes. Once your computer rebooted, it should already be in the default settings
You will lose all your data if you wanna set it to factory setting ,have its back up before you loose it.
Here is how to restore at Factory Setting..
1: Restart the computer, click Start, click the arrow next to the Lock button, and then click Restart.2: As restarts, press the F8 key until the 'Advanced Boot Options' ,menu appears on the screen.It should come up before Window logo appears.3. Press the (Down Arrow) to select Repair Your Computer on the Advanced Boot Options menu, and then press Enter.4. Specify the language settings that you want, and then click Next.5. Log in as a user who has administrative credentials, and then click OK.6. Click Dell Factory Image Restore.7. In the Dell Factory Image Restore window, click Next.8. Click to select the check box for Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition.9. Click Next. The computer is restored to the default factory configuration.10. When the restore operation is completed, click Finish to restart the computer.
To restore the computer to the Original Factory settings perform the following steps: Turn off the Computer connect it to the Power outlet with Adapter Turn on the laptop The moment you see the Dell Logo, Press the Ctrl Key and start tapping the F11 key. You will get a screen which will give you options to restore the computer. Select the option which says Restore to Original Factory Settings. It will run the restore and your computer will be restored to Factory setting within 15 - 20 minutes.
Note: you will lose all the programs and applications that you have installed and also the files and documents stored in your computer (including the email in Outlook). You computer will be as it was when you first Purchased it.
P.S: You can restore the system to Factory settings only if you have not formatted or replaced the Original Hard Drive.

Check to see if your Dell is fragmented. Go to My Computer, RH click on it, Go to manage. Click on disk defragmentor, If you see alot of red in the chart it is fragmented. Click the Defragment button and walk away from the computer for at least 30 minutes. It will max out the cpu and you will not be able to do anything on it. If it is a laptop make sure the power is connected.
If this does not work, make sure that the wireless and the wired connection are not running at the same time. This will slow down the computer.
