DO not disturb feature will not turn off

I'm not sure what to do? The main line will ring but the offices attached will only flash that there is a call coming in.

I keep trying feature, 60 feature but nothing is coming through. Any ideas?

I am assuming you have the NEC Electra Elite phone system, with standard programming.
To see if your phone is in Do-Not-Disturb, have someone call your intercom number when it's idle. If it rings or you get a voice intercom call, it isn't in DND. If you can answer an incoming call while the line is flashing by JUST picking up the handset, then your phone is really ringing, you just can't hear it. If that is true, with your phone idle press <Speaker> 601 and use the UP/DOWN volume controls to adjust the sound level. If you must press the line key to answer an incoming call, you phone is probably not ringing and you may be in Night mode. If you have a dark square to the left of the time on your display, you are in night mode which can be cancelled from the attendant's phone (usually ext. 100 or the lowest numbered one in the system) by pressing <Feature>80<Feature> to set the system back to Day mode. If none of the above works, we'll try looking at system programming. Let me know.

Phone line doesn't ring


First, lets get rid of the static. Try Feature #86. This will turn off background music. When a music source is not attached you get static.

Enter programming by using Feature XXX66344 password 266344. The display should show "Terminals&Sets" press the top right button with an indicator in the display. The display should show "Show set: ____ enter the extension number that you want to check or program. The display will show ***:name. Press the top right button three times. The display will show Show Line:____ with options to Scan or List. If you select Scan it will show the lines assigned to that phone. If you select List it will start with the first line in your phone system showing one of four states 1- Unassigned, 2- Ring Only, 3- Appear&Ring, 4- Appear only. Change the selection on the line by using the CHNG soft button. This is where line assignments are changed from the four states for each extension.

The only other thing that will keep an extension from ringing is "Do Not Disturb" or DND. Feature 85 and #85 will turn this feature on and Off.

I think the ringer is off on my NEC Dterm 80 phone. when a call comes in, I hear it ring at my bosses desk but not mine and my line is the main line. How do I turn the ringer back on. Thank you


Ringing is assigned in system programming, so if your phone doesn't ring you can't change that unless you have person on site who works on the system at that level. Some places use the night mode feature to make certain phones ring in day mode, and others to ring in night mode. Not very likely but sometimes the mode gets switched at places who don't realize they have another mode, suddenly only 2 phones ring instead of ...5. Feature,80,Feature, is the code to switch back and forth on a Pro II, an Elite, and an IPK system. This would be done at the reception phone. These phones also work on several other systems so don't know if this works for you. Or maybe you set Do Not Disturb, which would keep your ringer off.

Program "Do not disturb" on business phone


It's pretty straightforward. You pick a spare button, dial FEAT 00 press the blank button (with a light) and press FEAT 01. There are considerations that I'll reproduce here.

Do Not Disturb (F01) 8
Use this feature to be able to press a programmed button to prevent incoming calls for the
extension from ringing (lights still flash). When Do Not Disturb is on, outside callers hear ringing
while inside callers hear a busy signal. You should use Do Not Disturb only if someone answers
outside calls for your extension when you do not answer them.
Considerations 8
Do Not Disturb is available only on system telephones.
Do Not Disturb requires a button with lights. When the Do Not Disturb feature is on, the light
is also on, indicating that the telephone will not ring.
■ Use Do Not Disturb when you do not want the auto attendant or the voice messaging system
to transfer calls to you.
■ Use Do Not Disturb if you are assigned to a Hunt Group and you leave your desk, so calls to
the Hunt Group will skip your extension and ring immediately at the next available extension
in the group.
■ To avoid missing calls when Do Not Disturb is not needed, turn it off.
■ If Do Not Disturb is active at a doorphone alert extension, the person at the doorphone hears
signaling, but the alert extension is not signaled.
■ Unanswered calls that are transferred from an extension with Do Not Disturb active ring at
that extension if they transfer return.
■ Extensions with Do Not Disturb activated do not receive Caller ID information, unless the call
is answered.
■ Users with Automatic VMS Cover Assigned or with VMS Cover turned on can activate Do
Not Disturb
to Send All Calls immediately to their voice mailbox.
■ Users with Call Coverage turned on can activate Do Not Disturb to Send All Calls
immediately to the covering extension.
■ You cannot use Call Screening (F25) when Do Not Disturb is turned on.

How do I turn off the local ringer on my office phone, AT&T MLS12D


Changing ringing on a Partner system is done on either ext 10 or 11.
At one of those ext's press the feature key and "00"
Next press the left hand intercom twice
The display should say system programming

Press the right hand intercom once. The display should say Centralized Programming.

Enter in the extension number that you want to program.

Press the line that you want to ring.
A solid light on the line means immediate ringing
A slow flashing light means delayed ringing (meaning the phone will wait 3 rings before starting to ring.)
A fast flashing light means no ringing.


Press feature "00" to logout

Phone wont ring on incomming calls?


Could be two things, first is DND or do not disturb. Make sure that its turned off by either pressing the DND button or feature #85.The second is that the ringing wasn't turned on in programming.
To set up ringing you need to enter programming by pressing the feature key followed by **266344.When prompted to enter the password enter 266344.
The screen should say TERMINALS&SETS. The 4 top line/feature keys are now used for programming.
At the terminals&sets prompt, press the show key (top right arrow). The display should now ask for an extension number. Enter extension number you wish to program ringing on. Press the show key (top right arrow)
The display should sat LINE ACCESS
Press the show key (top right arrow) .
The display should say LINE ASSIGNMENT.
Press the show key (top right arrow) .
The display ask for a line number. press list
The display should sat line 001: appear only press CHNG til it says appear &ring.
press next key (lower right arrow)
The display should say line 002: appear only
Repeat same procedure as line 001 til all available lines are done
press the release key when finished

How do you turn the ringers off on the phone?


Do Not Disturb (Feature 01) will turn the ringing off of a phone, but it will also send any lines assigned to ring on that phone to voicemail (if applicable).

OR, to turn ringing off in system programming:

From ext. 10 or 11, press Feature button, 00, left intercom button twice, right intercom button once. Enter extension number of phone you wish to remove the ringing line from. Light indicators next to line keys show ringing status. Press line keys to desired ringing preference for each line-
steady green light- immediate ring
green fast flutter- no ring
green slow flash- delayed ring
Press "feature" 00 to exit

No ringing tone or incoming call sounds.


The primary phone sets the ring for all phones. If it is off, nothing will ring. Once it is on you may set the volume of the rings on all sets individually. If you have the manual, look under Ringer Off on the main set. Hope this helps, let me know
