try turning it on again when you get to the log on page if your daughter has set up a log on with a name and password type in your name (be precise a computer is)if she has placed a password in for logon again be specific make sure the caps lock (capital letters) is off/on what ever applies to the password logon

If you forgot the windows login password and want to recover or reset windows password, there is two methods to reset windows login password:

Method 2: Using Windows Password Recovery software to recover Windows password As an easy method to recover the forgotten Windows password, there are only four steps as follow: Step1: Download Anmosoft Windows Password Reset V8.0( http://www.resetwindowspassword.com )and install it. Step2: Burn the ISO image file onto a blank CD/DVD or USB. Step3: Boot up your Windows PC by the bootable burned CD/DVD or USB in minutes. Step4: Remove the forgotten Windows password on the operation interface and logon PC without password.
try F2 you didnt say whether it was set in the bios or in the initial configuration pages. However a F9 whilst booting takes you to restore the factory settings(every other boot) goto restore factory settings--press "E"-- choose restore image--press "B"-- then try to reconfigure the first few pages of the initialising programs,date,time,location etc.
TomTom say that you will need to return the unit to them to unlock it, but there is an independant prog download available that costs £40. How good that is I don't know, so I suggest you mail TomTom Service dept to see what they say. I reckon it is the cheapest alternative.
If your not running Windows, the first thing I would do is write to Asus and ask them if they left an administrator account on this machine. Most of the time if your using linux and you forgot your password. then you just have to reinstall Linux. Most Linuxs' have a root account that you could log into to do maintanance but if they disabled this account then your going to have to reformat everything. Linux is very secure but sometimes that works against you if you don't take passwords seriously.
