Question about Lexmark Impact S305 - multifunction printer / copier / scanner color

1 Answer

Lexmark printer not dispensing ink

I have the printer plugged into my laptop via USB. The ink levels are all more than half full. I tried to print a two-page document. The printer's first attempt left me with one page missing the black font but printing the colored background perfectly, and the second page was almost entirely missing its black font, but printing the blue fonts perfectly. I tried twice more to print the documents. Both times resulted in completely blank pages being produced. The printer gives no indication that ink needs to be replaced or that there is anything functionally wrong.

First, make sure you are using genuine Lexmark cartridges.

Second, try updating the firmware of your printer. Just go to http://bit.ly/ghfW8H to download the firmware update.

If the firmware update doesn't help, please perform a maintenance on the cartridges. To do that, on the control panel of your printer, press on Setup > Maintenance > Deep Clean Printhead.

If it still doesn't help, please contact our technical support team.

SOURCE: recently refilled cartridge #70 on

It sounds like bad cartridge. Inkjet refilling only works sometimes, If there was any old ink in the cartridge there could be a bad mix or even dried ink getting into the head

Why was my printer showing my print level to be 3/4 the way full for both the black & color, & then I went to print again and there are ? marks on my ink levels, & a error that says cartridge problem?

printers are calibrated to only measure ink levels for original cartridges ( Lexmark)
if you refill or use generic cartridges the machine will not read the levels and will send a ink level warning or will not print because it thinks the ink is out and will not work to protect the printer
Talk with a lexmark service center for proper diagnosis

My Lexmark x4850 all in one won't print documents from one of my computers but will for another one. Also the computer that it won't print from also can not tell me the ink levels for the printer. How do...

Ink level reporting is a problem for most lexmarks. Check for new software updates. Further I'd need to knwo what type of network is being used or if you are connecting each computer directly to the computer via usb/parallel port. If it is the former (which I assume it is) then you need to make sure that the computer that can't be printed from has the proper permissions to access the printer, and is capable of seeing it on the network. Further, you should check your router's printer control and recognition software if its a Linksys router.

No ink coming from cartridges.

Sounds like maybe the nozzles are clogged up. Try using the printer maintenance utility to "Clean Nozzles". I think for most Lexmark printers it is call the "Lexmark Solution Center" in your Windows Start Menu. If that doesn't work, try maybe wiping the cartridge with a damp paper towel at the place where the ink comes out.
