Question about Computers & Internet

Win XP Pro laptop used to stream Music and vid (ie YouTube) perfectly. Some software update from who knows where happened. Now the processor gets pegged. Music and video is choppy and music distorted. I have uninstalled all Flash Player components - no joy. Any ideas? THX

By searching the web, I can see many user's with the same problem. It appears to be associated with a Flash Player update. Flash Player says to uninstall the update and roll back to a previous rev. I followed the instructions and the problem did not go away. I love Win 7 but there will continue to be millions of XP users that will not be able to upgrade due to hardware and storage issues. I think the publisher of the offending update needs to provide a working solution and quick. Their response is that it is not a high enough priority. I think I'm going to have to in with regedit and destroy all remnants of Flash Player. Pain in the you know what!

I think XP Pro has a restore function that lets you restore system to an earlier date. Been awhile since I've used XP...try searching for XP restore at Microsoft or Google it. Good luck !

SOURCE: Laptop with Choppy Video

First of all you're running vista, which is a major no-no. Since your RAM is only 2 gigs, vista will take up about 1.3-1.5 gigs of ram, depending on which version you have.As for the video card i really do not see a problem. Try updating your drivers, i would suggest Driver Genius Professional Edition, as for free editions google them. Hope this helps. I'm not as good at laptops, so bare with me.

Why does it freeze and whine when I'm trying to play music CDs or streaming video?

Not exactly sure what could be the cause but something that fixes small glitches for laptops sometimes is a hard reboot. You can do this by turning PC off, unplugging it, then remove the battery. Next hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Once done release the power button, put the battery back in, plug it back in, boot it back up and see if you can play the CD's or video. Hope this helps!

Yes..it's available from a reseller that works with Canon. If you can give me the actual model number from that unit, and perhaps a serial number, we'll be able to proceed.

OTOH, that question about the Canon and Final Cut, that's usual. Those folks don't even go to the same conventions or seminars.

Digital madness.

You probably are using Vs. 7.2 which needs updating to Win 7.
However, most older programs designed for XP will work just fine using "XP Mode," which comes with Windows 7 Pro. Here's a bit of an over view on XP Mode:

Just now i formatted my laptop and installed windowsXP. For that i need all kinds of drivers to installed and i dont know were to find this.My laptop model is A135-S4527

I bought a Toshiba A135-S4527 with Windows Vista Premium installed on it. I quickly decided to downgrade to XP Pro. It took me days of searching to locate all the drivers since Toshiba does not provide XP drivers for this laptop. Installing all the updates from the Windows Update site did a lot of the drivers for me. HOWEVER, Windows Update will misdiagnose the display adapter. It will try to install a driver for the Intel 945GM but it must be some generic 945GM driver, because it will not give you full functionality (e.g., multiple display outputs, etc). Use the method I describe below to get the correct 945GM driver for this display adapter.

=====================================================
Hardware and drivers needed to run Win XP Pro on Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527
==============================================================
Run "infinst_autol.exe". This is an Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility (now called Intel Chipset Device Software I think). It will identify and load the proper driver files (.inf) for various things. I did this at the end last time, but if done near the beginning, it might take care of things like display adapter, etc. Check Intel's site for the most updated one. Go to http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/inf/

Display adapter is Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family
Driver was named win2k_xp14182.exe. I downloaded it initially from
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/deta...1&dwnldid=9683
&agr=n&lang=eng&prdmap=2301

Mouse is Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad
Driver file was called XP_2K.8.3.4.zip. Can be downloaded from the Synaptics website.

Wireless adapter is Atheros AR5006EG
Driver can be gotten from Windows Update (or maybe the Win Vista CD too)

Ethernet adapter is Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
Driver can be gotten from Windows Update (or maybe the Win Vista CD too)

Modem is Toshiba Software modem
Driver can be gotten from Win Vista CD.

During XP installation, drivers were automatically loaded for:
- multimedia card reader
- firewire port (IEEE 1394)
- DVD/CD drive
I have this for Mobile Intel 945GM Express drivers:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Prod...ProductID=2301

Using Atheros AR5xxx 5.3.0.35 for wireless drivers:
http://www.opendrivers.com/downloado...php?href=47456

Realtek High Definition Audio 5.10.0.5436
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOU...ver-R170.shtml

SmartCard 2.0.0.6
Haven't looked

Intel Chipset 8.3.0.1013
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...13499&lang=eng

Realtek RTL8139/810x Fast Ethernet NIC
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/54582

I used a program called "driver genius" and it located the driver versions needed for this laptop.

Cam won't work on windows 7

That particular Cam is for Win 98SE, 2000, ME or XP so won't work on Win 7. The Logitech Pro 9000 will work with Win 7 and is HD quality and excellent audio (Amazon has great deals on them). Google Logitech Vid if you get one then send an invite to connect to your contacts. They too will have to download the Logitech Vid software for 'Live' calling, and the Cam will work in MSN Messenger.

Dezzie.

This software will work with your Toshiba Laptop. This software was created by Toshiba. You need to install the Network Adapter. So go to Toshiba's website and update your network adapter drivers for win XP SP2.

Please let me know how this works.

Thank you
