There a dot on my screen

If your laptop is under warranty, & if the number of dead pixels (as it is known by) is more than 6, contact Dell customer care & send them the screenshot. Number of dead pixels has to be atleat 6. Can you count hown many such pixels make up that smudge?

I have a thin horizontal line across my dell latitude laptop screen

If the thin line is always there, you have a set of pixels burned out. This usually occures vertically. There is easy fix, except to replace the screen. If the laptop is under warrenty, contact the manufacture for repair options.

Sorry could not be something easier for you.

My dell m1330 screen got vertical line in the middle of about 5-7 cm. I have tested video card by external monitor and it's OK. Recently I wrote somewhere that it could be fixed by tapping on screen. I did...

Hi,

This is definitely a problem inside the screen itself. It's likely that the circuits that control that section of pixels are loose, and when you're tapping them into place you're re-establishing the connection.

Since you're one of the fortunate ones who can get rid of the dead pixels by tapping the screen, I recommend you be gentle with it, as this is not a cheap fix. If your laptop is still under warranty, however, they can take care of it.

Hope I helped :)

Dell m170 pixelated screen on start up will only boot up safemode

The video card could be going out, this happens alot where i work. Are the pixels that are out always in the same spot or does it change as you navigate around windows?

If the pixels are always in the exact same place, its the LCD, If not, its the video card.

Be sure to have the proper drivers, get any updates from www.support.dell.com. select the model number or enter the TAG number off the back or do search for DELL M 170 or Latitude M170 or whatever model it is.

Try this out and if no go, then get back to me.

Good luck

Lines and pixels!

the on-board display is going out. The only other thing you can try to fix this is to install new display drivers. I found the driver page from dell here. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=LAT_PNT_PM_D600&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

If this link does not work type in dell.com in your search (Google,Yahoo, ect) and go to the support site and choose your model. The driver you are looking for is the display drivers. on the page i found it lists two of them. You only need the most current one. I.e : 2.05.3 is older than 2.12.4 If you need any further help i will be available, and please don't forget to rate the responses.
