Question about Sony KP-46WT520 46" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
Was watching TV and it just shutoff. When you turn back on light blinks 3 times. Is this an easy fix and can I do myself?
When I looked up the code, it is stating convergence. Chances are the STK chips have failed. I can't guarantee this is the problem but it is a good chance. If you do end up changing the STK chips, DO NOT use generic chips. They will not last, you will be lucky if they make it 2 weeks. I changed the chips on this exact set about 3 weeks ago and I was told that same thing by several techs. I can tell you that the site that Jean posted will not fix this
problem and could even make things worse. That site pertains to a specific problem that is common in
some Sony sets and should not be used to try to fix any other issue.
Please keep in mind many things can go wrong with TV sets and you should really do a lot of research before attempting any adjustment and or repair. There are high voltages present in some areas and they can reside even when the set is unplugged.
