Question about Kenwood VR-406 Receiver

1 Answer

I have a kenwood vr 406 and a kenwood rcr0609 remote. After some time, the remote stopped working , so we got a new remote. This worked about a day. The remote itself seems to be working, because I can turn off the tv with it, but it wont operate the kenwood system.

Kenwood receivers recently have a commonly known problem with its receiving IR diode within the receiver, to fix this you will have to re-solder the connection on the receiver panel within the faceplate of your kenwood receiver.

Instructions to fix it are at the following link if you are willing to open up your receiver and repair it. lots of people have reported this fix as successful so it is widely believed to be a design flaw in the VR line-up of receivers as it has occured in all the VR families so far.

good luck.

I can't get my VHS sound to work on analog setting

We see no details about your "VHS sound" device (so we can't look at a manual, which you CAN) and how you have it connected. Presumably you're using analog RCA audio cables. THAT would work on any analog input EXCEPT Phono. Nothing complicated about analog sources. Outs to Ins.

Need the 4 digit code for a kenwood vr-405 reciever with my kenwood rc-ro509 remote..stop working?

Hi,
Here are some remote codes for Kenwood Receivers.
The codes are as follows: One of them should work
0027, 0077, 0313, 0186, 0314, 0356

Here is a link to a web site that has universal codes for remotes.

Hope this helps,
Best Regards,

Receiver doesn't respond to any commands from the remote. Batteries in remote are fresh.

Over time the remote can become dirty from spills or potato chip debris.... This can cause the carbon pads to be on and the remote is giving a continuous command, effectively stopping it from working. Take it apart and clean carefully with rubbing alcohol and swab sparingly....

I can't get the sub to work, can someone help please??!

I'm a little rusty on this unit, however it is accessed thru the remote controls "Audio" button if memory serves correct. If you still have a problem, post a comment and I will dig out the manual and help some more.

Remote control not working...

I'm not sure of the exact fix, but when these components were assembled a few of the connections involving the remote sensor were not saudered. An easy fix if you know where to look.
