  • fireman-134 Jan 20, 2009

    Well I guess I will wait a while. Its doing more now then what it was doing. Thanks. I may need more help later.

  • fireman-134 Jan 21, 2009

    Still says Please wait a moment......... Then does nothing. Real pretty Acer screen though. LOL!

  • fireman-134 Jan 21, 2009

    It does not take me to my Password screen. When it loads it does everything that it used to but when it gets to where my password screen normally comes up, the screen stays back and I can't do anything. Hope this clarifies my problem some. Thanks!!

Try to see if it will boot in safe mode, by pressing F8 while the laptop boots up. If it allows you to boot in safe mode, try to do a system restore when you know that laptop was working with no problems. You can do this by clicking on start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore and choose a date and time when you know that the laptop was working with no problems. If this does not work or you cannot boot in safe mode (be aware that everything will look big in safe mode and when the computer reboots if asked how you want to start windows, choose start windows normally), try doing a recovery. This will restore your computer to the factory default settings when you purchased it. You can do this by booting the computer, when the acer screen appears hold down the ALT key and continuously press F10, this will open the recovery manager and you can restore it from there.

I hope this helps

    wow, that is taking far too long. Did you hold down the ALT key and then press F10 quickly when the acer screen appeared? I know you have to be quick when the screen appears otherwise it will try to boot into windows and you want to avoid this if you want the recovery manager to open.

    Try rebooting, get ready to hold down the ALT key and press F10 quickly as soon as the acer screen appears.

    If it appears to load windows (visually) and then the screen goes black where your log in page should appear, you should be able to boot up in safe mode. Have you tried pressing the F8 key when the computer boots? You do not have to wait for the acer screen to appear for this method. Just reboot and when the computer starts to boot up keep pressing F8 until you hear a beep. You will then be given some options. Choose start windows in safe mode.

    If you do manage to get it start up in safe mode then make a note of your graphicscard because if a restore does not help then your graphics card may need an updated driver. If you go into control panel>system>hardware>device manager and click on the + sign next to display adapters then make a note of the graphics card.

    If this is the case let me know the name of the graphics card along with your version of windows and I will find a driver for you.

    Let me know how you are getting on.

    Anything is possible, do you have the original windows disk or a boot disk for your laptop? If not what version of windows are you running.

    You did not mention if you could get into safe mode either!

MY acer ZD1 screen has gone black how do i connect it to a pc screen blind

1) Laptop OFF, monitor OFF, connect a VGA monitor to the VGA port on the Right/Rear of the laptop.
Example of a VGA connector (Port), and a VGA Cable,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_Connector

Scroll down a little for an example of a VGA Cable.

You can use a CRT type of monitor, (Looks like a small TV), or a flat LCD screen monitor if it has a VGA cable.

Yes. You can also connect an HDMI cable to it, and HDTV with this capability.

Turn the monitor on. If a CRT type allow it to warm up.
Turn the laptop on.
By factory default settings the display should show on the external VGA monitor.

If not;
There are at least 3 display options;
1) Internal monitor of laptop ONLY
2) Internal monitor of laptop AND external VGA monitor.
3) External VGA monitor ONLY

Press, and hold down on the Fn key. At the SAME time tap once on the F5 key. The F5 key is the Display Toggle-Over key.

When it gets to the startup screen it shows some updates then shuts down

If you have your windows installation disk you can try to do a system repair. To do this, turn on you laptop and when the bios starts (usually white text on black background or an acer backgroud) press the F12 key to change boot order. Now select your dvd or cd drive. Windows will load files and then ask what you want to do. Select system repair and follow instructions.

If you show a Blue Screen, you have more problems then it not being able to turn off/shut down?? I would back out the battery so as to stop power from getting to it, AFTER you have it unplugged..then push battery back into to engage, plug the AC cord back into the PC. turn it back on and IF you still show a BLUE screen, you will need a tech to check it further...GOOD LUCK...

Hi. Yes, it could be a failing LCD screen but I would suggest to check the ribbon that connects the LCD screen to mainboard and make sure that it is not damage and properly connected.

try to plug in an external monitor to your acer and see if your able to see anything. If not, then you have to open the screen and clean/repair/replace the ribbon for your monitor.
