Question about AOC 2436swa 23.6" 16:9 Lcd Monitor, 5 Ms - Black
My monitor was working when I left the room and the computer went to sleep. I woke the computer from sleep but the monitor wouldn't come on, only the amber light on the power button is blinking.
Tried to unplug the unit and don,t use for a while to reset the power supply as will as the main board.

Sorry to say, but it sounds like you power board is due for an overhaul.
It should be fixable since it does show signs of a little life left in it.
It would have to be taken apart. A visual may tell for sure.
Look for bulging capacitors (canister looking things) This a sign of a typical failure.
Of course, not all capacitors bulge when they go bad. That would make things too simple !!

I've had a very similar issue on many Dell Monitors. Mine have been under warranty and they usually send me a new monitor, but I believe the issue lies with the power supply within the monitor.

It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of the monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix the problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and - connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. If you can't do the repair we offer a repair service, contact us for more details.
I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.
