SOURCE: Have a GE washer model

Here's the acid test: If the water is overflowing, turn off power (timer off, unplug machine, or switch off breaker) and if water stops flowing, you have a bad water level switch or obstructed water level tube leading to the level switch. If the water continues to flow in when power is off, and the only way to stop it is to shut off the water supply valves, then replace the water inlet valve of the washer, which for your machine is part number WH13X10024 and generally goes for about $50.

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Hi just read your posting.Did you disconnect the wires to your water valve coil before you tested the ohms resistance?Make sure you unplug the power before you test the valve.A low reading on the coil will not make the machine flood. Please retest the coil and get back to me and I am sure I can help .Looking forward to your reply.

Testimonial: "Yes the wire plug was unplugged...although I didn't see two prongs on each inlet as is commonly pictured, just one plug , leading to the timer."

SOURCE: HE3t has an FH error

Hi,

Thank you for contacting fixya.com.

FH error code means low water inflow. In this error washer is not filling when the fill valve opens.
To clear the error please follow the bellow instructions:-
Press the "Stop" button twice with your finger. This cancels the cycle and stops the washer. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.Turn the water shut off valves clockwise to stop the water flow to the washer through the supply hoses. Pull the washer away from the wall enough that you can access the hose connections at the back of the washer.

Set a bucket under the area of the hose connections. Unscrew the hose connections from the back of the washer. If necessary, use a pair of slip joint pliers to help start the connections turning until you can turn them by hand. Set the ends of the hoses inside the bucket.Inspect the screens on the inlet ports on the back of the washer where the hoses connect. Sediment and other debris can block these screens, causing fill problems. Clean the screen with an old toothbrush.

Thread the hoses back onto the washer. Look for kinks in the hoses. Kinks cut off water supply to the washer which causes the FH error code. Once you connect the hoses, turn the water supply valves counter-clockwise to supply water to the washer. Move the bucket away from the washer and push the washer back into its working position.Plug the power cord back into the outlet and start the wash cycle again. If the FH error code comes up again, call a service repairman. If the hoses have no kinks and the inlet screens are clean, there is a problem with either the pressure switch or the flow meter.

Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.

My Samsung WA80HAG/XTL inlet valve opens and lets water in as soon as power is on, even before selecting a wash program. circuit board is probably faulty and not in company stock. Suggestions please.

make sure that the board is faulty first by having a technician do some checks
next would be to go e-bay or gumtree and search for a power board for that make and model of machine
remember that you are buying second hand so don't go over board with the money
talk with other service agents for the machine as one may still have a board or can repair a board
many appliance repair shops keep good board out of machines that have other problems so ask around

Washing machine drain problem

Here's a few instruction's How to Diagnose Washing Machine Problems

Step 1:
If the washer won't start, check the power cord or reset the circuit breaker depending on the issue. It may be overheated and shut off temporarily. Let it cool for 30 minutes, and if it still won't start, call a professional.

Step 2:
If the motor transmission failed or the drive belt has broken, these need the assistance of a professional.

Step 3:
If the washer won't drain, clean out the drain hose and straighten any kinks. If the drain hose fits too tightly in the standpipe, adjust it to allow for a minimum of 1.25 inches for airflow so water can drain.

Step 4:
If the washer won't fill or fills slowly, turn the faucet handles counterclockwise as far as possible. This is usually the result of partially open faucets.

Step 5:
Call a profession if the washer overfills. This means the water-inlet valve or switch is defective.

My Whirlpool duet GHW9150P washer does not fill with hot water

Hi.

Start checking the inlet hose at the back, ensure that the hose is not kinked, and that water is flowing with sufficient pressure.

After checking the inlet , test the inlet valve itself.
To test the inlet valve you can read Ohms on the valve solenoid contacts to ensureit has continuity, and check if the valve is getting energized byreading volts at the valve terminals. If the valve is getting powerduring cycle but it does not open, then the valve is still failing.
Sinceyou have a dual inlet , you can also test the valve by swapping hot andcold inlet contact. In your case I do not think that the problem is thevalve.

Since the problem is only on hot inlet, the cause is most likely a faulty thermistor (SENSOR-NTC).The thermistor is connected in line with the hot inlet on the circuitfrom CCU. When thermistor is faulty, the inlet does not open.

The sensor is part nr.24 on diagram below. Click on the picture below to enlarge.

857c1f6.gif

The pressure switch (SWITCH-WL (Water Level/Pressure Switch))is the part that determines when to stop the inlet valve to preventoverfilling. If the pressure switch is defective, then the valve willnot open.

The pressure switch is the most common cause for coldinlet not opening, along with inlet valve/hose problems. In your case itwould be rather unlikely, but still possible, as hot water gets filledafter cold water. A defective pressure switch may detect overfillingbefore time and stop filling before getting to hot fill phase of thecycle.

The switch can be tested jumping its contacts andcycling. Mind all the safety measures, and stop the cycle manually toprevent overfilling while the switch is jumped..

The part is indicated with number 23 on diagram below, click on the picture below to enlarge:

76e3fe6.gif

Thedoor switch can also be tested by jumping it, in your case the problemis not the door switch, or the cold inlet will not fill.

If allthe rest is fine, then read Volts to inlet valve to test CCU (timerboard) and wiring. If there is no voltage to control board whilecycling, then the electronic control board is likely faulty. Check ifwiring harness has continuity before replacing the control board.
Thetimer board is always the last part to be tested and eventuallyreplaced. A bad pressure switch, or an open NTC switch can prevent thevalve from getting energized even if the CCU is fine. The CCU getsreplaced when everything else is OK.

Test and eventually replace the thermistor, that is probably the fault.

Testand repair must be done by a trained person. If you DIY, remember thatthere is AC voltage running on the appliance. Call the phone number listed on the user manual if you need to contact a qualified technician.

Regards.

Dishwasher not filling

The water float switch, located on the inside bottom of the machine, may be stuck in the up(off) position keeping the water valve from functioning. This is a safety device that turns the water valve off when the machine fills in order to keep it from overflowing.

The water inlet solenoid mounted on the inlet valve under the bottom front may also be malfunctioning not allowing the water valve to open and fill the machine. If electricity is present at the solenoid terminals when the machine is in fill cycle, then check the solenoid coil to see if it is open(no continuity). Also, the timer may not be calling for water/ sending voltage to the inlet valve solenoid.

I would start by manually operating the water float valve a few time to see if that helps. You should hear a microswitch click each time the valve stem is moved up or down by the float. If not, check to see if voltage is getting to the float switch and the water inlet valve solenoid.

Most(if not all) machines have a safety cutoff switch which activates when the door is opened. That switch could also be malfunctioning not allowing voltage to the water inlet valve solenoid in fill cycle.

Hi, i have a mieled/w g1. it give a code of f13 which is inlet but i dnt think the waters getting thro the electonic non r/ valve

Hi,

First the unit drains and then fills with water. When the unit has intially drained open the door and manually fill the unit with water, about 5lts. This will then allow the dishwasher to go to the next step which is to circulate the water. If this works ok then the water tap is defective, water inlet valve is defective or the electronic unit is not sending the signal to activate the valve. The water inlet valve is the white square box attached to the tap. Remove this and check the filter and make sure water comes out of the tap.If ok then remove the bottom panel of the unit under the door. On the right hand side there is a 2 core cable with a male and female connector. Unplug this and check for voltage from the electronic when the unit goes to fill with water. If there is 240v then the electronic is ok. You will then need a new waterproof system from Miele.

Water-inlet valve Most cleaning problems are caused by the dishwasher not getting enough wash water, so the water-inlet valve is often to blame. This valve is usually at the bottom left or right of the dishwasher, behind the lower access panel. It's the device with the main water line from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it. When a water-inlet valve is defective, you may hear the sound that's usually referred to as "water hammer." If the water-inlet valve is defective, you need to completely replace it. Hello
Welcome to Fixya
My name is Huum,

here are a list of the four most common reasons for this problem!

Defective Timer
The timer is a series of switches that controls all machine functions. If one of the contacts in the timer is defective, the machine will lose that function. knowledge of the the use of a vol/tohmmeter is essential to testing the timer as well as the ability to read the timer sequence chart that is supplied with the machine. In most cases this requires a professional technician.

Defective water inlet valve
If there is 110v across the two wires on the water inlet valve when the machine is set to fill, the valve should open and the water should enter into the machine. If the water does not enter, the valve is defective.

Float Switch
The float switch allows water to enter into the machine to a point where the float will rise up off of the switch and disconnect power to the water inlet valve. If the switch is defective or the float is stuck in the up position, the water will not enter into the machine.

Water Source Turned Off
Check to ensure the water source is turned on and water is getting to the water inlet valve.
