SOURCE: punctured an air-conditioner Freon line

when the freon is released from the unit, you have to repair the leak, pull a vacumm to rid any moisture in system then refill with freon,if you dont have the equipment,it would be cheaper to just replace the unit

SOURCE: air conditioner needs freon

If the system runs you will first need to add freon to the system (make sure it the right freon) Just enough to find leak. After you find leak and repair evacuate the entire system and weigh in charge. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Air conditioner is not cooling. The fan is running. When I turn the thermostat past 7, the unit shuts down. Any ideas? Low on Freon?

Sounds like a leak to me - if you have a set of guages available (know anyone working in the refrigeration field???) you could tell this for certain.  Otherwise, try running it when it cools down outside and see what happens.  Take a stick thermometer, and put it in between the fins on the INSIDE condenser coil.  If they get cooler, but not down to about 50 degrees, then you are low on refrigerant.
Good Luck!

SOURCE: Freon R-22

Hi!!

I would not worry about the R-22 gas part. First, you do not have to put gas in an A/C unless there is a leak. The A/C gas is not like propane that you have to keep refilling because it gets used up. A/C gas circulates in a closed system and years can pass before you may even need some. Take for example the R-12, it was fhased out in 1994 and it is still available (for technicians only) 16 yrs. later.

So if you like the unit and the $$, get it.

Don't forget to rate this post. Good Luck!!

Low pressure switch will shut down right after starting when it is low on freon. A small amount of freon will get it started but when the compressor starts it moves freon from the low line to the high

Fix freeze up

There is a reason they freeze up 1. low on freon..2 evaporator coil needs cleaning(inside coil)..3. very dirty air filter, any one of these for a an air conditioner may freeze up... due to a number of other reasons. The most common reason for an air conditioner to freeze up is low on refrigerant.

Why dose air blowing out dash hot when in cold a/c position

Hello, There are a number of reasons that may cause your A/C to blow hot air. The compressor belt could be loose or broken, the A/C system could be low on freon, the A/C compressor clutch could be defective or the fuse could be blown, or the A/C mixing door could be stuck open just to name a few.

Hi I have a mistral reverse cycle a/c model MSS 15 the fan works but the air coming out is not refrigerated.

Check if your a/c unit needs cleaning dirt's sometimes causes not to cool the air. But if your unit is clean then your compressor needs to be re-charged with freon.

Fan is blowing. the fins have been blowen out no noticeable leaks.everything seams to be working properly.just no cool air coming out of vents

This could be due to low freon level or a bad compressor. Start with checking the freon level and then ohm out your compressor.

Mistral mss20 split a/c only cooling somtimes 4 about 10 m then

Sounds like your unit may be a bit short of refrigerant and the compressor is therefore cutting out on low pressure.

Air conditioning unit

On a "Non Heat Pump" unit, icing of the pipes is not good. It is an indication that you either have a low freon level (Charge), low load, wrong superheat.
A low load usually means, in this case, something wrong with the air flow. Clogged filter, wrong fan speed, something blocking the return air grill, like a chair/ blanket, etc.
If low on charge, the evap (Indoor Coil) will ice up and the ice will then slowly creep along the pipe untill it gets to the outdoor unit. This is really no good. Air cannot go thru solid ice so naturally there is no cooling happening.
If a company replaces the outdoor unit (Condensing Unit), there is no warranty on the indoor unit. I do not know of any company that will repair an indoor coil (Evap). Just not smart money. They have to capture the freon, open the system, make the repair, ensure the correct level of freon is in the system, and most time, add a filter/ dryer for additional filtering and drying of the freon. With all that, no one is going to patch a leak on an old coil because if it leaks now, it's going to have another soon. You'll just be chasing leaks and spend money after money. Hope that makes sense. HVAC companys have to follow the EPA rules too. Leaving a system leaking above a certain percent of it's total charge is a major no-no. They will not do it.
Hope this helps clear up a few things and good luck.
