Nv45ab won't advance nails

The allen screw/s that you mention are there to plug holes where automatic equipment would normally connect (such as automatic nailing machines) . This is only a plug and should not be driven in too far. I have also seen allen screws installed in the head to repair small crack/s.

After adjusting the truss rod, one of the nails in the truss rod cover does not go in well

Take the truss rod cover off. Take the one of the screws and carefully run some super glue into the screw thread (not directly in the hole). Put it in the problem hole and screw in, leaving a bit of the screw sticking out. Leave it over night to set. Remove the screw with a screwdriver, replace the cover and replace all screws. This technique works well for many screws, although the bigger one, such as strap buttons work better with a good quality wood glue.

The nails don't advance to the fireing pin

Assuming that the nails are moving ok down the rails and the pusher is in good order, if the driver does not return to the top position, the nails will not move into position. Remove air line to gun. Use metal rod to push driver to top position and verify that nails move into position. If the driver was at the top position, check for debris in rails or wrong nails. Place a strip of nails on the outside of the rails and align the nail heads with the rails. The first nail should align with the path of the driver. If the first nail head is tilted back away from the path of the driver, the driver will just push nails back into the rails and slip past. If nails are correct and driver does not return to top, suspect worn piston oring or cracked lower bumper or lack of lubrication.

When firing nailer first nail shoots good but next nails head will get stuck between the push rod chamber. push doesnt seem to return fully top when nail is cycled.

Try oiling the tool first. Remove the nails, squirt a decent amount of air tool oil in the stem where the air hose coupler connects, and fire the tool a dozen times or so. Then put in the nails and test. If it still hangs up then it will need the o-rings replaced.

Model FN250a 16G finish nailer type 1, the tool driving mechanism does not return completely thus the next nail does not advance, thank you

clean the ram rod with a brake cleaner or compatible cleaner than spray with a lube or oil 2 problems cause the rod not to retract 1 is bent or damaged rod [requires replacement] not that common and 2 is the adhesive or glue used to hold the nails together gums up the rod and feeder shaft which is the more common problem

Hitachi nail gun,piston/nail push rod wont retract after pushing nail (stays protruding out of gun so the remaining nails stay underneath it

You have one or more worn o-rings in the head of the gun. They direct the air to the proper parts of the gun to first drive the nail then to return the driver to the top of the gun for the next nail. Depending on the manufacturer and your model number, some companies make kits to replace the o-rings (always replace all of them). For some companies you have to get a breakdown of the gun and order each o-ring seperately.

I have a craftsman 16 gauge finish nailer, model 918441. it is not advancing the nails. not certain how to adjust. cannot find the manual. is the manual available on line?

Assuming that the nails are correct for gun (16g nails measure .055) and feeder is actually applying pressure to nails (feel spring pressure as you close clip), most likely problem is driver is not returning to top of cylinder. This is caused by low pressure to gun, bent driver, lower bumper missing pieces/cracked, worn oring on piston or lack of lubrication. Remove cylinder and examine condition of lower bumper, replace if broken/cracked; check outer cylinder for check valve in place (usually small band or oring covering series of ventholes) ; replace piston oring as needed, make sure driver not bent. Parts available at sears web site. Good luck

The flash unit on the Nikon 4500 will not return to the closed position; it won't stay down?

Use a spiral nail but not a finishing nail and nail 'er down.A screw works too, but you have to pre-drill the hole so you wont crack the flash..

After shooting a nail the ram rod stays down not returning to the ready position

1.) Lubricate nail gun
2.) Use correct air pressure. finish nailers 80psi and below. framing nailers 80psi and above.

I use nail guns every day, when the rod doesnt return 90% of the time its lack of lubrication. You should add a drop of air tube lubricate everytime before use.

If that doesnt work the rod may be bent or the seal around it may be worn.

The problem that you describe could be caused by three things. First remove the cylinder and look for a black rubber band around the cylinder about med section. There is an indention with holes where it is supposed to be. The band should fit snuggly so that it does not slip off during use. Secondly, check that the piston oring/plastic ring holds the piston in the cylinder without just dropping under its own weight. Third, the upper bumper could have a crack or missing piece. Remove it and check. (vinyl part in headvalve) Parts are available at dewalt repair center or enjoy
