I bought an E-machine Acer Aspire 4330 used and it was shipped to me. It got here i great shape, except they did not wipe out thier things, or send me the pass word to get into it so i can. I have the recovery disks that the former owner made, and tried to use them at start up to do a clean up and such. It diod not work, the disks were not read. I can not find in the books that came with it or in the setup utility menu a restore  or recovery option . How do i get into this computer to clean it out? Rest it or what ever?

What you will need to do is get a valid copy of an operating system XP or what ever you choose. When the PC first boots you will load the operating system disk and then that should walk you through the rest of the installation. During the install you should be able to remove any partitions and format the entire disk as one.

I hope this Helps.

Acer aspire x1200 freezing after factory restore

It appears that well bla bla as you say I agree weird stuff I have the same machine in my den. What I did was load Win 7 into it. It may be worth the investment. Also you may want to do a total hard drive wipe before re-installing original software just because you do a restore does not mean that there may be something left behind that could be affecting your computer. Killdisk is freeware I use this software whenever I wipe any drive. That way I know if there are any errors on the drive or bad sectors or whatever may be hanging it up.
I think most folks will agree with me those that have been around know that Vista is quirky to say the least especially if you do not keep up with the latest updates with this software. I personally have never liked Vista some folks swear by it but to me it was just a BETA format for the Win 7 system testing phase. Many computers I have worked on I convince my clients to use Win 7 Ultimate. If you can get a copy of this that would I believe solve the matter. Also download killdisk save your goodies first and try it from there if you can.
Also, you may have a bad or going bad part in your machine as well. Check the dust and clean if necessary and use some new thermos paste also on top of CPU........This may also help I have to do that at least every 6 months with mine they get hot. Maybe someone else has more options. I would at least consider the move forward from Vista to 7 you have the resources for it. John

Possibly the main board but check the power supply first as if the voltage is too low or the battery is faulty, you will get a similar error.

How can i install windows xp in acer aspire m5641 can u tell me plz yours best regrds zakir

Hi,
The acer aspire M5641 , usually ships with windows Vista. If you are planning to install windows Xp. You would have to source the windows xp cd. You cannot buy the XP cd from microsoft as windows xp is now and end of life operating system and not sold off the shelf. However if you already have the XP cd with you , you can use the same cd. Note hardware on your acer may not work , because of driver unavailability for XP operating system. However if your system was shipped with , refer to the following video links to guide through the reinstall process

Need to reset my acer computer to factory settings.

Hi! Try system restore first and check if that will remove the virus but if not then you can reset the machine to factory defaults by pressing ALT+F10 during start up or when the acer logo appears on your screen.Follow the prompts and you should be able to reset the computer to factory image.Make sure you back up important files because it will wipe the system clean.hope this helps...

Acer Aspire M5641 crashed and I have no restore disks. It never did! What can I do???

Hello,

You can purchase a restore disk direct from Acer. (Use the support page on thier website.) The other option would be borrow one from someone who would have the same model that you own.

Good Luck

Hi, I have an Acer Aspire 1700 series laptop and told that the motherboard has died. Can I replace it? What options do I have and idea of cost in Australia dollars?

Hi,

Laptop motherboards are replaceable though a bit tricky putting the laptop back together.

Options would include:
1. getting in touch with Acer Australia, email>customer.service@acer.com.au, Phone: 02 8762 3000, 02 8762 3264; Fax: 02 9764 2368; Address: 5 Figtree Drive, Australia Square, Homebush Bay NSW 2127;
2. look for an online supplier such as Notebook Solutions. They do exchange repair;
3. buy a new board from eBay such as this one here;
4. send in your laptop for repair like here.

Cost probably looking at anywhere from a little less than 200 to a little more than 300 Aus$ excluding shipping.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
