Question about SanDisk (SDCZ4-000-A15) MP3 Player
It turns on but theirs always a black and white screen that appears and then it turns off what should i do?
SOURCE: my mp3 player doesn't work
My Mp3 dosn't work when i turn it on it says updating and when i put it on the charger it tells me instalzing i don't know what to do please help me.

I called and spoke with a Sandisk rep on Jan 16 about the "Sansa m240 startup screen" freeze-up problem that so many are experiencing. He said a bad batch was sent out in early December and on those m240''s there is "NO POSSIBLE FIX" for that problem, but no plans for a recall. He said he could not discuss what the problem was, but I guess it would be a hardware issue, since a firmware issue could easily be resolved. He said anyone with this problem is requested to call Sandisk and get a MRA number, then return the m240 to Sandisk for a replacement. If you have one that''s frozen on the Sansa m240 startup screen (all other freeze-ups can probably be corrected) take it back to your place of purchase or call Sandisk immediately.

SOURCE: trouble with my sansa
Run the recovery tool from the SanDisk website. Make sure you select "format" when prompted.
You need to put the device into "recovery mode" before you run the tool.
- Turn the device off (hold power for 20 seconds)
- Slide the hold switch into "hold" position.
- Press and hold the "record" button while connecting it to your computer. Keep holding the "record" button until you see the "new hardware found" on your computer.
Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted.

HI, When an mp3 player malfunctions,is usually caused by VIRUS that has affected the functions of the mp3 player..To fix the problem,you might to First rest the mp3 player and after resetting the mp3 player and it stills malfunctions, youmight need to update the firmware of the mp3player...
To reset the mp3player :
Reset via command
Push the "Power" switch downward into the "Hold" position.
Press and hold the "Menu" and "Record" buttons at the same time until the device resets.
Push the "Power" switch upward all the way to turn it back on.
Reset via switch
Grab a steady hold around the device.
Push the "Power" upward and hold it there until it powers off.
Power the device back on by releasing the power switch and then pushing it upward again.
Force reset via power-cutting
Unscrew the screws on the back of the device (or simply push the lid off if it is a model without screws.)
Take out the batteries from the slot and wait until the screen goes black.
Insert the batteries the same way they were mounted and attached the lid again.
Push the power switch upward to turn on the device.

things you'll need:

Verify that the player is fully charged.
Verify the the player is unplugged from your computer.
Go to the Sandisk support site, linked below, select your player, and download the Sansa Firmware Updater software. Follow the instructions for installing it on your computer. If you need them, you may also download user manuals for your or watch how-to videos on updating the firmware.
Put the player in MSC mode. Go to the settings menu, select the USB submenu, and then select MSC. Some players with early firmwares do not have the USB options in the menu. If this is the case with your device, then there is another way to force it into MSC mode: Put the device in "hold" mode by sliding the hold switch until orange is visible. Next, press and hold the left (rewind) button until the screen changes. Go to the next step.
Plug your Sansa player into your computer and wait. The Firmware updater should launch automatically. Follow the prompts to update your player. Be certain not to unplug your player until the updater is finished. The software will tell you when it is safe to disconnect.
Tips & Warnings
If the above does not work for any reason, there is another way to update the firmware, by manually installing the necessary files. Consult the official support forum for specific instructions for your device. See the link below.
Be sure not to unplug your device while it is being updated. This could permanently ruin it.
