It`s a Linksys or a Dlink?
Use IE (some router reffuse other browsers)
Enable java on your browser.
Check router default address with user manual
If still cannot open: Reset Router to factory default.
Connect using cable and setting your PC on same subnet.
If no connection consider a possible firmware corruption (=repair shop OR new device).

Lost wep passphrase, can't navigate

There are two ways of going at this problem:
  1. Connect your computer to the router using an ethernet cable. Open up your router's configuration settings (the webpage used to setup your router). To do this, open a web browser, and type in your router's IP Address in the browser's address bar (i.e. 192.168.0.1). A window should pop up asking for a username and password. Enter your username, and password (if you haven't set a new password, the default log in is username:admin, password: (blank)), and then you will be brought to the webpage. Once you are here, look for the wireless-security area of the site, and go to it. Under this area, there should be a passkey/passphrase bar. You change it, or just see what it is.
  2. Use a wep passkey recovery software.

Cant access to my D-link wireless access point to creat a wep key..what i wana do?

1. Do not attempt to configure your wireless router with a wireless connection. If the wireless connection gets interrupted, you may (probably will) not be able to reconnect to the router.
2. Go to http://www.pingplotter.com/freeware.html
3. Download and install pingplotter. The free version.
4. Run ping plotter to determine the IP address of your router. Click on tucows.com and click on trace. Your router will be the FIRST IP address listed.
5. Write the IP address down. If it is not 192.168.0.1 someone has already configured the router.
6. Log in to your router using a wired connection with the IP address you wrote down. (if you cannot do this due to fthe router being pre-configured by your Internet Provider or other problems, you can force your router to reset to the factory defaults and configure it yourself.

6a. Use a straightened paper clip or similar object to force the router to reset itself to the factory defaults. Put the paper clip in the reset hole next to the WAN connector on the router and hold it for 10 seconds. This will force reset your router.
7. Remove the power from your router for at least five minutes. This will cause your IP to reset his connection to your router.
8. Log back in to your router using a wired connection.
9. The default D-link IP address is 192.168.0.1. The D-link default user name is admin. The password is blank. No NOT blank, just enter nothing but the user name and click on the next button.
10. You should be able to configure the router to your satisfaction.
11. Remember to change the Administrator log on information (name and password).
12. You may find it necessary to duplicate a MAC address in order to connect to your IP.

Configuration page doesn't load

1. can you ping the router? go star>run>cmd and type ping 192.168.0.50
if the ping times out or says it's unreachable, check your network connections (cables are fully seated and there leds are blinking properly)
2. try to type 192.168.0.50 on the address bar and hit enter, did you change the ip address on the router before?? if you did and can't remember what ip address you gave to it you may need to reset your router.
3. try the same ip address in another browser (IE, chrome, firefox), Make sure your browser has Java, JavaScript, or ActiveX enabled. If you are using Internet Explorer, click Refresh to be sure the Java applet is loaded.
4. are you using the right the correct user name and password? enter 'admin' (lower case) and hit enter or the password you may have configured, if you can't remember what that was reset your router.

you router's manual can be downloaded from here

good luck

I security enabled my belkin eb547d but when i put in the password it tells me I have to code it as wep or wpa

The passphrase is a method of setting up the encryption setting in the wireless router. Go into the router configuration and then into the wireless settings. I suggest you use WPA encryption as WEP is older and weaker encrypyion method.

To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: -
1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA).
7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.

If you did not configure the Netgear wireless router and changed the default settings and the default password password, then your wireless system is open to anyone hacking into your system and change your wireless router's settings and they can hack into your computers and your Internet connection. The Linksys expander will increase the wireless range to give a wider coverage to your router.
I suggest you reset the Netgear back to the factory defaults (press the pinhole button on the back of the Netgear router until the LEDs flash then release this button,
The configure the Netgear as follows :-
To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: -
1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.

I have airtel brodband connection but today i bought a wireless-g (linksys) how i setup it

get the default ip address of the router which is either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1

Should be stated on the underside of the router or in the manual of the router.

Open your web browser ( internet explorer or firefox )

Delete everything out of the address bar and then enter the ip address of the router into the address bar including the dots ie 192.168.1.1 and then press enter

It should prompt you to login

the default login is admin as the username and click on ok ignoring the password field.

Otherwise it will be admin as the password and ignoring the username field and click on ok

This should take you to the web based configuration interface where you can configure all the settings for the router with regards to wireless , the ISP settings etc.

If you are unsure of what to configure in there post back with what your ISP advises to configure and I can help further.

I cant reset my senao eoc3610

1 ) Check if IP address is the correct address of your Gateway.
Check if you can ping.
Be sure you have your Java enabled
Some router requires a specific Browser (IE6 or IE7) and cannot respond to different browser.
Be sure to remove any Java protection from your Browser.
Check with user manual if IP address requires also a specific port number ( 8080 or other).
Be sure to Connect Router using Lan cable
2) Change your PC IP setting to same subnet as your router
Control Panel / Network settings / properties of TCP/IP define an IP address and a subnet mask compatible with Router as gateway.
3) If you are not sure of Router IP address use reset button on router back to factory default; use this to configure router.

How To Make a DMZ

A router normally stops incoming Internet traffic from getting on your network, unless the traffic is in response to one of your computers or when using port forwarding. But instead of discarding the incoming traffic or using port forwarding, you can send incoming traffic to one computer on your network by establishing a "Default DMZ Server". (DMZ = humorous reference to "Demilitarized Zone".) This avoids you having to figure out what ports an Internet application wants ? by throwing all ports open for that computer. For regular network operation, NETGEAR recommends you do not use a DMZ. A computer with DMZ loses firewall protection, and is exposed to exploits from the Internet. If compromised, your own computer can attack the rest your network. Instead of DMZ, use port forwarding, as described in How is Port Forwarding Configured? However, the DMZ server feature is helpful: * When you have a problem connecting to an Internet service. Setting up a DMZ will determine whether a closed port is responsible for the problem. * With some online games and videoconferencing applications that are incompatible with NAT. Follow the procedure under your router model to create a DMZ To Create a DMZ for RP614, MR814, FVS318, FVM318, WGR614 1. Open a Web browser, and type the router's IP address (The router's default IP address is 192.168.0.1). Click Go. 2. Enter the username and password for the router (Default username is admin and password is password). 3. From the browser Main Menu select Advanced > Security. Some routers, such as the MR814, use the WAN Setup Options, page, instead. 4. Enter the server's IP address. 5. Click Apply. To Create a DMZ for FR114P, FR114W, FM114P, FR328S, FVL328 1. Open a Web browser, and type the router's IP address (The router's default IP address is 192.168.0.1). Click Go. 2. Enter the router's username and password (Default username is admin and password is password). 3. From the browser Main Menu select Advanced > Security. 4. Click Rules. 5. Check the box for Default DMZ Server, and enter the server's IP address the corresponding box for the IP Address. 6. Click Apply.
