Question about Microsoft Flight Simulator X for Windows

Flight Sim X fails to load at statup

My FSX now fails loading at statup. I get as far as the blue flight Sim window shown on the desktop, and that's as far as it goes.
Selecting: ctrl, alt, delete. tells me the flight sim is "not responding''.
I have tried everything in my power to get it sorted! At this point in time, I have removed FSX from my PC Via the, 'add/remove program, re-installed the FSX using the two DVD's, but the problem has not been resolved!

Can anyone out there help,please!

Rob

I am running Windows Vista Premium. Normally Flight Sim X runs very well but 4 times since purchase (Jan 09) it has refused to get beyond the opening window. Uninstalling and reloading solves the problem but this is a painful process every week or so.

Have exactly the same problem as fastjet and shaggy. My computer is brand new and exceeds the basic min requirements for running FSX. I also noticed that when I load SP2 the total bytes reduces to half. FSX alone without the upgrades is in gigabytes and reduces to half with the upgrade installed. Am I losing data or is sp2 overwriting the FSX base program when installed? Also had side by side compatibility problems. Which version of the visual C++ redistributable upgrade is required. The 2005 w/sp1 x86 or 2008 w/sp1 x86? Great program when it opens and works but is driving me crazy in the meantime loading and unloading. How does one upgrade "drivers"? I know this is a lot of stuff to throw out there but any help on any piece of it would be helpful. I'm running Vista Premium. Thanks in advance for any help you folks can offer.

whats your system? system requirements for game are:

    • Microsoft® Windows® XP SP2 / Vista
    • PC with 1 GHz equivalent or higher processor
    • 256 MB of system RAM for Windows XP SP2 / 512 MB Vista
    • 14 GB available hard disk space
    • DVD-ROM drive
    • 32 MB DirectX 9 compatible video card required
    • Sound card, speakers or headphones required for audio
    • Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
    • 56.6 Kbps or better modem for online play

if your computer matches these then you need to see if your card on motherboard is up to date and also if your graghics card is too date

    always look at requirements

Check your video card and its drivers are up to date and not corrupted. Might be worth downloading new drivers. Basically after the menu screen the sim enters Direct3D mode and if there is a video driver problem, this is where it will pop up and start causing problems.

I loaded flight simulator 2004 on my new computer with windows 8.1. It loaded fine. After when I clicked on the flight simulator icon, the program will not run.

if you ck the box the game came in you will see that its only 4 win2k and maybe win-xp depending on the time you bought it , it wont run in a windows version that was created long after it was written , now that being said , win 2kpro version does have a backwards compatibility version , but then the other newer software you have loaded will not run stable and is prone to crash"s (blue screen of death)

a possible solution to your problem is something like I've done ,I've taken a old laptop with win xp running on it ,and islanded it (never connects to internet or network) so that m-soft cant ever shut it off this one I load all my great ole games to it (flight sim, trainz ,etc.) and it works just fine

Computer crashed now formatted with vista home and trying to reinstall flight sim X but it keeps coming with this message microsoft flight simulator x scenery world texture 024C2 Sul.BMP

FAT32. The File System used by Win98SE that has no security like NTFS file/user permissions. The lack of FAT32 security may be your answer to a lot of problems with FSX. Mine was a license issue + couldn't install ACCELERATOR pack. Windows 7 offers all the tools to create a FAT32 from available space from your C drive. ControlPanel>>AdminTools>>ComputerManagement>>Storage>>DiskManagement. Right Click on Drive C and click "shrink volume". Set shrink size to just under 32 GIGABYTES. Then format it as FAT32, Reinstall FSX into the FAT32 partition and ENJOY!!!. The install may take almost 2 hours so just let it sit. This (installing into) FAT32 thing will solve so many issues. In NTFS, if security on one file it tries to access - fails or a service FSX needs to run fails THE APP WILL FAIL!!!!

My FSX has been running flawlessly for 2 year now it freezes a few minutes into flight Sp1 and SP2 have been installed and I reinstalled FSX and have the same results HELP!!!! Please I also down loaded...

My best suggestion here is making sure that your graphics are up to date. Whether you have on board graphics or a graphics card, check the drivers and update if necessary. If that doesn't fix the problem, are you using the gold edition, or just flight simulator x? The gold edition contains the Acceleration expansion, and does not recommend installing SP1 or SP2 as it is already updated through the Acceleration Expansion!

FSX = ****!

It sounds like a RAM issue. FSX needs a minimum of a dual core processor, a good quality graphics card (512Mb min) and 4Mb ram. The "not responding" is caused by the PC having to try to get a large amount of data into a small amount of ram, or the processor is struggling to cope.

I have Microsoft Flight Simulator X and a Satek X52 flight control, however I have problems with the throttle on all aircraft. I have to use the F-4 key - can you help?

You need to assign the throttle function correctly WITHIN FSX settings area itself. Also calibrate the joystick in windows first. If you are not familiar with assigning FSX functions to your joystick, check the Learning Center section within FSX for step-by-step details.

Unable to find fsx in windows registery unable to complete flight deck5 setup

Have you searched the registry using CTRL + F and typing in FSX or Microsoft? This should find all entries. If not, then FSX is not installed properly and you need to uninstall FSX, reboot and re-install. Good luck with it.

When i try to load a flight plan and click save it closes fsx

Where are you getting the FP from? If it is a third party software, the resulting Flight Plan must have a .pln extension to the file. If it is a FP from within FSX, you set up the plan, then tell it to load it, then you can save it okay.
