Question about HP Broadcom NetXtreme Network Adapter
When attempting to install Comcast software on a Gateway computer who's hard drive was recently reformatted, I receive an error regarding a problem with the network adapter. It claims that the adapter is not installed or not present. HELP. I have installed a new Ethernet card but even then the PC is not recognizing the new driver. Gateway was not helpful at all b/c the 1 yr warranty has run out.
Restart your computer in safe mode. Press F8 while rebooting. Once in safe mode, go to Start - control Panel - system. Right click on and remove the network card devices (you might see more of them there than you do in normal mode). Then restart the computer.
It should detect the new card and allow you to install the drivers for it. If it still doesn't detect the new NIC card, try powering off the machine. Open the case, and make sure the card is properly seated inside the computer case. Press down on it firmly. Then restart and see if it detects the card.
If it doesn't detect the card, the card might be bad. If you have another card, I'd suggest trying a different one, to see if it recognizes a card that you know is good.
Try these things and let me know how it goes. Thanks.
