Question about HP OfficeJet 6110 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

How do I hook my 6110xi printer to the phone line.  There are 2 plugs and cords in the phone line.  One is going directly to my phone.  The other is plugged into the back of the modem.   There is no phone line plugged directly into the back of the printer.  Where would I connect it there, and then where would it connect it, seeing as the outlet in the wall already has the 2 plugs in it? When I look at "printers and faxes" on my computer, the fax info. is not there. I have Time Warner service with a wireless netgear box

Fax wont' go through. Plugged phone jack into phone line and when I try to fax it doesn't connect. Any suggestions? Thanks

Can you receive any faxes. Run a Fax Test from the Tools menu. Is the problem with only one fax receipient? (Check the phone number and make sure they are set to receive. I have dealt with one fax receipient where the call-waiting service caught the fax call.)

Does the Fax see a dial tone? If there is no dial tone, use a single line phone (corded) to listen for a dial tone at that jack. If there is no dial tone, check the incoming service for a dial tone. (If you have no dial tone at all, contact your service provider.) Try a new phone cable (2-wire RJ-11) Try calling the number from another phone line with the single line phone attached. If the phone doesn't ring with a new cable, check your wiring and then contact your provider. Is the signal analog or digital (the all-in-one is designed for digital)?

Go back through the fax settings and set it as directed in Step 2 here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01458259&tmp_task=solveCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3643612 . You need the fax error reporting setting.

Disconnect any items that are plugged into the 2-Ext port.

Try reinitializing the unit. Unplug the power cord with the unit on. Make sure that the phone cord is fully seated in the 1-Line port. Then reconnect the power cord.

Try resetting the all-in-one, this may require 2 people. With the printer on, unplug the power cord and wait at least 20 seconds. Press and hold # and 3 while plugging in the power cord. Release the buttons after the unit starts up.

If none of these steps help the unit may need service.

Fax Error 386, HP 6110xi Fax failed Is there a solution?

See http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&docname=buu02549#Error386
Too much noise on the phone line: e.g. bad connection, unshielded phone cable next to a electrical machine (motor!), temporary problems in phone service providers network.
Fax is essential data transmission by beeping noises. If crackling on the line or other disturbances degrade signal quality too much, the data cannot transmitted properly anymore.

Hooking up mx310 all in one

The phone line should plug directly into the Line plug on the DSL modem and the all-in-one should plug into the Phone plug next to it. If you need to split the line do it AFTER the line comes out of the Phone plug.

I have a hp officejet 6110xi all in one

hI,

the Issues seems to be with the hardware malfunction and it is not only related to the cartridge.

However, you can perform the following steps and in case if the issue persists, you need to replace your printer.

Connect your printer directly to the wall outlet.

1. Verify that the unit is switched on. Unplug the all-in-one from power and disconnect the connection port.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug in the power only.
4. Repeat steps 2-4 two more times.
5. On the third time after plugging the unit into power, reconnect the connection port from the all-in-one to your computer.

1. Unplug the power cable from printer when the printer is powered on and wait for 20 seconds.

2. Then, press and hold # and 6 while plugging in the power cord

Panasonic KX-FM220 fax machine does have a dial tone

I would double check your phone cord. There is usually 2 jacks in the back of the fax machine. 1 is for Line, and 1 is for phone.
Your phone cord should be hooked up in the LINE jack that goes to the wall.
I would also double check your phone cord on another phone to make sure the cord is good.
If you look at the clear connector that you plug into your wall and fax machine, does it have 4 copper/gold color wires contacts imbedded in the clear plastic connector?

Another thing to try, if you fax machine has a Line and a Phone connector, try plugging in a phone in the PHONE connector. Then hook up another phone cord going from the LINE to the WALL jack.
If you get a dial tone on your Phone, then you know you have it connected correctly. If no dial tone, then I would go back to the phone cord.
check those things and get back to me and I will see if I can help you with more suggestions.
Good luck.
Mac =)
