Jenn-Air Gas Cooktop Model CVGX2423 (by 10 users)

posted by SSharma on Jun 30, 2007

All ignitors on my Jenn-Air Cooktop (model CVGX2423) continue to spark for a long period (even when only one burner is turned on). I have cleaned all of the burner heads and their ports. But, the problem persists. Do I need to replace the ignitors? If so, where do I get the instructions to do so?

Indeed... I have this stove and this same issue... what next? I'm calling the 1-800-688-1100 to see if jenn-air still supports this..

Same model, same problem. It has been sparking for years now, but now much worse. Wife will file for divorce if I do not have repaired. I thought the main ignitor module may be defective. Any new suggestions?

Just had this problem today on our seven or eight year old Jenn-Air cooktop. When using the front right burner all ignitors would continue to fire until I turned off the burner. The three other burners worked correctly. After trying all the obvious soulutions w/o success I pulled off that burners control knob and the rubber seal which exposed the valve. Their was a bunch of crud in there. I put a small (one inch) paint brush in there and vigorusly loosened all the crud. I then inserted the nozzle of our central vac - which just happened to fit perfectly - and sucked all the stuff out. I repeated the proceedure a couple more times, reassembled the knob and started the burner. Worked just perfectly!!! YMMV. Good luck.

I have seen a similar unit that had a switch assembly mounted inside the control panel that fired the ignitors. Each control knob had a one; 4 knobs, 4 assemblies. Its possible that the assembly is sticking due to cooking residue or cleaner. From what I remember, access was a monumental problem - uninstall, disassemble complete unit, clean, then reverse process.

My stove does the same thing...has anyone figured out what to do or where I can get directions to fix it?

The igniters are continuing to fire on all burners long after the one burner is lit as a safety feature to prevent gas leakage. My new Miele cooktop fires all burners loudly 19 times every time you light one of them, and it is SUPER annoying to the point where I'm about ready to return the thing. Does anyone know how to decrease the number of times the igniter fires?

Same other entries. Igniter continues to fire on all burners even though burner is lit.
Cleaned all with tooth brush and mild soap -- no change.

I have the same exact problem on the same model. Were you able to resolve?
