I can't connect the printer with my laptop. The printer is connected to my main computer and I'm trying to get my laptop to recognize the printer.

You will need to add this printer as a network printer using the main computer as the server. This is easily done, but is different for each operating system.
winXP= start>settings>printers and Faxes>add a printer> add network printer (next will search for printer)
- sometimes you must share the main computer by opening windows explorer and right clicking on the c: and select sharing and follow the screen
- Hope this helps, send more info if you need more help

Desktop computer windows xp...sons laptop windows 7 ..wireless router....same internete signal...can his laptop find my printer..or do i need to run same cd on my sons laptop..to get it to install on...

Hi,

Yes it is possible, you have to install the pritner software on your Sons laptop.

1) For sharing, if you have a network printer connected to your router, then select the network option while installing the printer (If you would have given us the printer model and make we could have given step by step instructions).

2) If the printer is connected to your XP computer and you want to share it, share the printer from XP as mentioned in the steps below.

>> Open Printers and Faxes. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Printers and Faxes.
>> Right-click the printer you want to share, and then click Sharing.
>> On the Sharing tab, click Share this printer and then type a share name for the shared printer (e.g. MyPrinter), click on Apply and Ok. (as shown below)

Now goto the Windows 7 laptop and follow the steps as mentioned below,

>> Click Start >> Click on Devices and Printers >> Click on Add Printer (as shown below)

>> A new window will come up, click on Add a network printer (as shown below)

>> The laptop will search the network for the printer and display it on the list, click on the printer and click on next. The laptop will install the software required, do ensure the printer installation disc is in the laptop in case if Windows 7 wont have the driver it will take it from the disc.

Regards,
Shrey

Got my self a laptop my epson printer is up stairs on my desk top computer.how do i get my printer so i can print from down stairs using laptop roater ect

You'll have to share the printer from the PC it's already connected to. You'll have to install the printer drivers on all PC's that you want to use the printer with.

Printing from a laptop

you'll need to share the printer on the desktop then add new printer on the laptop (when adding new printer you'll need to seach for network printers).
Prerequisite of this is that both machines are in the same workgroup and that file and printer sharing is on on both machines

Printer to lap top hook up wireless

The main problem here is that the printer is not a wireless printer.
But you can install the printer wirelessly through a wirelss printing upgrade kit, refer the link bellow:

Laptop to printer

1- put the printer in a SHARE folder
2- put her laptop in the share folder
3-( I'm assuming she is in your residence,!!!??? she can not do it if she is in a different location )

there may be a solution if she is away from home there is a device they sell you connect it to your cable and desktop; can also be used for hooking up your DVD, VCR, camera (checking your house from a camera ;security) and playing it while in another place. Ask at a computer store.
