I have a wireless connection, a belkin router with 100% signal strength to my ps3. i have been connected before had my ps3 over a year now, l8ly i have had trouble connecting to the playstation network when I try my connection test I get:
Obtain IP Address Succeeded
Internet Connection Succeeded
Playstation network Failed
I get writing saying ' The connection woth the playstation newtork has timed out' at the bottom.
I have looked up some solution like turning of media server connection....that didn't work( it knock off my internet connection to my ps3)
I have tried using the dmz for my computer and that didn't work either
i have tried restarting and turning off my router that didn't work either
I have a perfectly good internet connection with my other pc and laptop through wireless.
Try moving ur ps3 closer 2 ur router dat should make da connection stronger. but another thing is wen da internet router is used by too many appliances certain ones for example ur ps3's internet becomes weaker. i hope dis helped=)

Remove the connections you have to your wireless network on your PS3, then set it up again. Your PS3 might also be too far away from your router. If you're getting this message frequently, I would call your ISP or the manufacturer of your router and try to boost your wireless signal strength.

turning off media server on ps3 Go into the PS3?s Settings menu and
navigate to Network Settings - Media Server Connection disable it thats
my first idea which could be causing the issue..Secondly unplug your
modem/router for 15 sec then plug back in...THEN FOLLOW STEPS
Select "Network Settings" under "Settings" in the home menu, and then press the "X" button.
"Internet Connection Settings", and then press the "X" button. When a
message stating that the Internet connection will be terminated is
displayed, select "Yes", and then press the "X" button.
Select "Wired Connection" or "Wireless Connection", and then press the "X" button.
Select "Easy" or "Custom" and adjust settings as necessary. Follow the on-screen instructions to adjust the required settings.
You should always choose Easy before going onto to adjusting the Custom
settings. In most cases, the Easy settings will work and are set
automatically so you won't have to search for information that could
have been gathered automatically.
Hi. If there are no walls or any kind of interference that is blocking the router to send wireless signal to your PS3 then this could be a wireless adapter problem on your PS3. By the way, is the PS3 sits beside the router?
Hi. Since you are getting a good signal in your pS2 connecting to your wireless router. Test your internet connection using this site www.speedtest.net. Your download speed should atleast 80% of the speed that you subscribed. For example, If you availed for a 5mbps connection you should be getting 4mbps or more when you test the connection.
If you are talking the wireless for the controllers they use bluetooth and the signal strength is dependent on how much interference there is around you. If you are speaking of the wifi capability for the network connection you cannot increase the strength of the signal from the PS3 it needs to be done with the wireless access point.
get your router name and go through manual setup, your brother may have accedentally made your wireless network hidden, to change that go to http://192.168.1.1 or .0.1 and log in and chang the settings to default
You need to disable the UPnP function on the Belkin router. Log into the router(192.168.2.1), and look under System Settings for the UPnP function and disable it. If you haven't changed the password on the router, the default password is blank, i.e., no password.
if your PS3 is closer than 20 feet from your router, then its unlikely to be your signal strength. However, Wireless connections tend to "poll" their connected hardware. What I mean by taht is.... The router sends out a signal, just to check and make sure all the peripherals are still there. I dunno about PS3 yet, cos I havent tried to game online, but I am an avid PC online gamer, my pc is within 5 feet of my router and Ive switched back to LAN cable to play. I was experiencing periodic "lag"... due to that polling effect. Try using the LAN cable and see if that makes a difference ( I dont know how many Ethernet RJ45 connections a Netgear has, ... if it only has one, you may need to connect a "switch" )
