SOURCE: Canon Pixma IP5000 wont print cyan or magenta

Think you need to clean the sponge that the ink cartridges sit on in the head tray they are probably blocked with dry ink. You can remove the print head and tray by lifting the lever and gently lifting it out..... go here http://www.inkjethelper.com/
to see how to carefully clean it with compressed air. I had to do this too.

It sounds as though you have a break in the carriage ribbon cable. A new carriage would hopefully cure it but its just possible the logic board has failed and is not sending any signal to the magenta ink tank. Its certainly repairable but you would need to know the costs and the labour charge to see if its worthwhile.

Printer doesn't recognize magenta cartridge.

You need a new printer head, point blank- this is for the average person not cost effective because of the price of print head if the particular one is even available, No way to pin point what cause it-maybe the company that made it can- so if you repair it may happen again since we don't know what caused it in the first place- People dont repair printers they replace them, my 200$ printer was now 50$ and hard to find and the print head was 80$ online only...guess what i did. You cant sell it because no one wants is--best bet is trash and buy a new one--Good Luck.

I'm having a problem with the ink magenta on an IP4500 Canon Printer, it's not printing any magenta even with new cartridges and I've done all the maintenance checks!! Help!

there are small metal spring contacts between the cartridge holder and the cartridge itself, these send the signals to the print head via the cartridge holder. Over time, as a print cartridge moves from side to side during printing these flatten out and no longer come into contact with the cartridge. Find the contacts behind your magenta colour cartridge and re-tension the spring metal contacts so they once again contact the metal faces on the cartridge. They maybe hard to find as they will be in the place where the cartridge goes, use the flat copper faces on the cartridge to give you a clue as to the position of the contacts in the holder.

If your printer did not good in times of reseting the cartridges do check the cartridge holder if the is some dirt inside or the terminal of your cartridge had wet by the ink when you refill the ink of your cartridges.

Canon iP4000. Magenta ran out today, I pulled the cartridge and continued to use the printer w/o magenta cartridge. Picked up a replacement cartridge, installed it and now the magenta does not print.

Hi Todd
I'm suprised you got it to work without the cartridge in it.
You'll probably find that you've burned out the magenta nozzles. The print head works by rapidly heating ink to squirt it out of the nozzle and the incoming ink cools it down prior to the next squirt. It's happening at a spectacular speed and if no cool ink is coming in the nozzles get hotter and hotter until they burn out. Alternatively, they may just be clogged up with dried up residue. Remove the print head and run it under hot water for a while (take the inks out first). Dry it off. refit it and the inks and try again.

Canon Pixma yellow color problem

Either the ink you are using is not going to give the color you want, or you have print heads that are blocked.
