SOURCE: will K8MM-V MS-7142 Motherboard supports 500GB/250GB Sata 3(6gbps) Hard disk, by setting to 1.5gbps speed ?

The designers of SATA aimed for backward and forwardforward compatibility with future revisions of the SATA standard.[citation needed] To prevent interoperability problems that could occur when next generation SATA drives are installed on motherboards with legacy standard SATA 1.5 Gbit/s motherboard host controllers, many manufacturers have made it easy to switch those newer drives to the previous standard's mode. For example, Seagate/Maxtor has added a user-accessible jumper-switch, known as the Force 150, to enable the drive to be switched between 1.5 Gbit/s and 3 Gbit/s operation. Western Digital uses a jumper setting called OPT1 Enabled to force 1.5 Gbit/s data transfer speed (OPT1 is enabled by putting the jumper on pins 5 & 6). Samsung drives can be switched to 1.5 Gbit/s mode using software that may be downloaded from the manufacturer's website. Upgrading a Samsung drive in this manner requires the temporary use of a SATA-2 (SATA 3.0 Gbit/s) controller while programming the drive.

I USED MY FREE AGENT DESK EXTERNAL DRIVE 500GB ON MY MAC GOT A NEW DELL AND CONNECTED THE DRIVE...IT SHOWS UP BUT I CANNOT OPEN IT PLEASE HELP

if you still can see files on the Hard disk from MAC, then the reason of being unabe to explore your file from MS windows is that your hard was initialized by MAC with a format that windows cannot read.
move your data from external hard disk to your MAC then format your hard disk from windows OS with FAT32 format .this format is readable on both MAC and WINDOWS

Sir i have intel 965ry mother board i want to connect 3 250gb sata hdd s but the system as slowly why

dear friend
Because it must recognise the three hard disk of 250GB, and memory is not frequent to working with large amount hard disk.
It is better to work with only one hard disk of 250GB. According to mother board requirement it supports up to 500Gb Hard disk but single hard disk of 500GB.

Does Asrock P4VM8 support 500GB SATA hard disks?

near the interface port of the hard drive you have to put a jumper that limit the connection speed from 3.0giga per second to 1.5giga per second, I think that would solve the problem because the hard drive speed goes to 3 giga per second and the motherboard p4vm8 serial ata port can support up to 1.5giga per second.
